The Second Helpings building is a vibrant and active one, fostering a collaborative work environment. The organization relies on a steady and dedicated volunteer corps that is in the building during most?open?hours, and it sees present and former culinary job training students coming and going regularly. Food and food culture are ever-present. A strong Hub Coordinator is dependable, people-centered and able to balance structure with flexibility in a dynamic, mission driven environment. This is a full-time position (40 hours a week). Working hours are from 7:30 am – 4:00pm or 8:00am-4:30pm. This position reports directly to the Hub Manager. There are no opportunities for hybrid work. ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS High school graduate or equivalent Valid Indiana Operators drivers license plus a safe motor vehicle report and must meet the commercial insurance age requirements Must have or be able to achieve a ServSafe Food Handler certification Must pass a drug screen Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, using adaptive equipment or assistance if more than that. Be physically able to perform all essential job functions Tolerance of weather conditions (heat, cold, wet, airborne particles), moderate to loud noise, or moving mechanical parts Follows Food Safety, warehouse safety, and transportation protocols always Possess working knowledge of warehouse safety and functions Requirements A good candidate will demonstrate the following: Reliability and Accountability: Consistently shows up on time and is prepared for scheduled shift Follows through on commitments and communicates proactively when issues or hurdles arise Has a deep understanding that reliability directly impacts food access for partner agencies and surrounding communities Strong Communication Skills: Can communicate clearly, respectfully and professionally with volunteers, partner agencies, donors, and internal staff Comfortable asking questions Approachable – providing top tier customer service to volunteers, partner agencies, and donors Communicates proactively about schedule changes, challenges or coverage needs Build and maintain relationships with donors, volunteers, and partner agencies to provide the best possible customer service Organizational and Operation skills Assists with the delivery of meals to partner agencies by working with volunteers and staff drivers to ensure that all items are in delivery vehicles and delivered with food safety standards adhered to Manage multiple tasks and priorities efficiently and safely Maintains a safe and organized hub/warehouse environment Receives and logs food donations and stores in the appropriate place Inspects food items to maintain quality standards and sanitation regulations Represents Second Helpings as a dependable and safe community partner Team Collaboration Works well both independently and with a team Independently manages assigned hub responsibilities without requiring frequent reminders At the direction of the Hub Manager, work with Partner Agency team and Food Rescue staff in activities related to re-direction distribution of food to partner agencies. Along with Hub Manager and CJT Manager, monitors inventory of food for the Hunger Relief and Culinary Job Training Programs. Communicate to appropriate staff when key inventory is low At the Direction of the Hub Manager, assist in directing volunteer drivers, driver companions, bread sorting volunteers and hub volunteers in cleaning ad organizing of designated areas Coordinates with Hub Manager on sorting, selection, and storage of donated food Aid in other areas, including delivery of meals to partner agencies and pick-up of excess prepared food from donor sites as requested and when time permits Able to interact positively with people of all backgrounds, cultural groups, and economic levels Safety Mindset Follows food safety, warehouse safety, and transportation protocols always Maintains a safe and organized hub/warehouse environment Models safe behavior always and addresses concerns promptly Demonstrates common sense and good judgment WHY YOU'LL WANT TO JOIN US: Second?Helpings is committed to fostering a culture of inclusion and belonging where everyone feels valued, supported, and respected.
