Description

The BC Aboriginal Child Care Society (“BCACCS”) is a Centre of Excellence for Indigenous Early Learning and Child Care that is committed to ensuring every Indigenous child in BC has access to spiritually enriching, culturally based, high quality early learning and child care services. BCACCS is the host organization of the Jordan’s Principle Enhanced Service Coordination Hub for BC (“the Hub”), providing centralized support for the Jordan’s Principle Service Coordinators working across the province to facilitate families’ access to existing products, services, and support, and to submit Jordan’s Principle requests where appropriate.

REQUIREMENTS

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree/diploma/certificate in adult learning, facilitation, social services, human services, or related field (or equivalent lived experience)
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in training/educating adults in a professional setting, both virtually and in person, including development of training and communication materials for online learning platforms
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Indigenous community engagement, policy work, and/or knowledge translation
  • Understanding of the policy concepts underlying Jordan’s Principle, human rights legislation, and orders of the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal (CHRT)
  • Working knowledge of BC First Nations culture, history, and issues, and a deep understanding of the historical relationships between BC First Nations people and government
  • Deep understanding of trauma-informed practice and demonstrated skill in creating a culturally safe learning environment
  • Strong proficiency in using computers (including the Microsoft suite and various video conferencing platforms) to create complex documents, manage large datasets, design impactful presentations, efficiently handle email communications, perform accurate file management, etc.
  • Criminal records check (vulnerable sector)
  • Must have valid driver license (BC Class 5) and satisfactory driving record
Responsibilities

The Resource Coordinator position is responsible for the following key functions.

  • In collaboration with the Hub team, develops and delivers curriculum for training of Service Coordinators in alignment with ISC, First Nations, and network partners
  • Delivers online and in-person training of Service Coordinators across the province
  • Provides ongoing teaching, guidance, and mentorship to Service Coordinators as they navigate implementation of the Jordan’s Principle Initiative
  • Supports development and implementation of Indigenous Standards of Practice for Service Coordinators
  • In collaboration with the Hub team, identifies and develops additional training resources for Service Coordinators
  • Collects and maintains accurate and comprehensive data
  • Prepares status reports and briefing notes, as well as statistical and activity reports
  • Monitors emerging policy, research, and practice issues to ensure integration of updated information into training/learning resources for Service Coordinators
  • Assists in updating the provincial website to share information and tools with Service Coordinators and families
  • Contributes to articles and stories for BCACCS e-news, newsletter, reports, etc.
