HUD and FAIM Counselor Location: Bloomington, MN Status: Full-Time, Non-Exempt Salary: $22.00 - $27.00 per hour Position Summary The HUD & FAIM Counselor provides housing counseling, financial coaching, case management, and asset-building services to individuals and families working toward housing stability and financial self-sufficiency. This position delivers HUD-approved housing counseling, facilitates educational workshops, and administers the Family Assets for Independence in Minnesota (FAIM) matched savings program. Key Responsibilities Conduct participant assessments, eligibility screenings, intake, and enrollment activities. Provide housing counseling, financial coaching, and individualized action planning. Assist participants with budgeting, credit improvement, savings goals, homeownership preparation, and housing stability. Plan and facilitate workshops related to financial wellness, tenant education, and homeownership. Maintain accurate client records and ensure compliance with HUD, FAIM, and organizational requirements. Develop and maintain partnerships with community organizations, lenders, landlords, and other stakeholders. Conduct outreach and represent CAP-HC at community events and educational opportunities. Minimum Qualifications HUD Housing Counseling Certification. Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Three years of experience in housing counseling, lending, real estate, financial coaching, case management, or a related field. Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related software. Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends and travel locally as needed. Preferred Qualifications Experience with HUD-approved client management systems. Bilingual or multilingual skills. Experience facilitating workshops or educational programs. Knowledge of housing, financial, and community resources within Hennepin County. Experience working with diverse communities and providing culturally responsive services. Why Join CAP-HC? Work Environment and Expectations Physical Requirements. Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Must have the ability to walk short distances. Exerting up to twenty-five pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. A hybrid work schedule may be available after 90 days. Regular travel/commuting locally; reliable transportation. Occasional evenings and weekends. Perform all duties completely, efficiently, and accurately. May require extended hours during key initiatives or events.
