THE OPPORTUNITY

An exciting opportunity has come up for a Senior Consultant specialising in Human Factors, to join our advisory services team in London on a hybrid basis. Your role will involve working as part of multi-disciplinary teams on a range of projects across sectors. We are seeking an individual who has a real passion for human factors and its application to multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy environment, and will be required to apply specialist skills on a range of exciting client projects, across relevant sectors such as rail, aviation and energy and help to grow the business and skills in this area.
Key elements of this role will be leading and managing packages of work, commercials and general consultant activities including producing and overseeing human factors work outputs of a high quality. You will be working directly with clients and building customer relations. This will include business development activities such as attending client meetings and writing proposals. You will engage with a range of stakeholders within Arup to help influence other disciplines to understand the importance of human factors.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • BSc in a relevant discipline such as psychology, human factors or systems engineering is preferred.
  • Chartered/registered or working towards this with the British Psychological Society or Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors.
  • Experience of the following human factors methods (task & workload assessment, cognitive ergonomics, physical ergonomics, environmental design & organisational behaviour).
  • We would prefer a background in user experience, control room design & operations, behavioural safety and human factors integration.
  • Project management & team leadership.

Responsibilities

Another element of the role will be utilising your knowledge in human factors to manage projects and teams and build relationships with clients. We are particularly interested in speaking with candidates from a consulting environment who have a background in working in high hazard operational sectors such as rail, aviation and energy.
