Job DetailsJob Location: Bay Aging - Urbanna, VA 23175Position Type: Full TimeSalary Range: $55,000.00 - $70,000.00 Salary/yearThe Benefits Specialist is responsible for assisting with the administration of all benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, flexible spending accounts (FSA), health savings accounts (HSA), life insurance, long-term disability, Family and Medical Leave (FMLA), and 401(k) plan, worker’s compensation, and employee assistance. They will report to the Director, Human Resources and work closely with the Finance Director and Finance team as well. Salary: $55,000/yr-$70,000/yr TYPICAL TASKS: Overview: Ensures the accuracy of all benefit enrollments in the human resource information system (HRIS) to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information. Serves as the primary point of contact with benefit brokers and carriers. Reconciles monthly carrier invoices to ensure accurate billing, enrollment, and employee contributions. Prepares benefits communications, correspondence, required notices, etc. Performs quality checks of benefits-related data. Assists employees regarding benefits claim issues and plan changes. Coordinates and administers the annual open enrollment process. Distributes all benefits enrollment materials and determines eligibility. Enrolls employees with carriers and processes life status changes. Responds to benefit inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes and other general inquiries. Processes and administers all leave-of-absence requests and disability paperwork: medical, personal, disability and FMLA. Effectively interprets FMLA and Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) implications as they relate to leaves of absences/disabilities. Responds to workers’ compensation injury reports, conducts the first report of incident and files with vendor, provides follow up to the employee and vendor. Maintains the OSHA log of injuries and prepares the annual OSHA filing for submission and posting. Keeps the Director, Human Resources informed of all injuries, issues, and trends. Responds to 401(k) inquiries from managers and employees relating to enrollments, plan changes and contribution amounts. Manages the annual catch-up contribution enrollment. Prepares and submits all required annual report submissions including benefits non-discrimination testing, CMS Annual Disclosure Notice, Medicare Creditable Coverage Notices, Employer Electronic Posting Notice Benefits, and the annual RX/DX report for health benefits. KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND DEMONSTRATED ABILITIES: Extensive knowledge of employee benefits and applicable laws. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software. QualificationsRequired: Associates degree in HR or related field, but experience and/or other training/certification may be substituted for the education. Two years’ experience in HR and/or benefits administration; Experience with enterprise HR and payroll software platforms Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field of study. SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) certification credential. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at a time. Must have a valid driver’s license.
