Job Title: HUMAN RESOURCE GENERALIST

JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The Human Resource Generalist will report to the Sr. Manufacturing Executive and will establish and maintain an efficient and compliant Human Resource function. This position provides HR support to managers and employees as well as oversight for employee engagement. The candidate will be the point of contact for human resource activities including employee relations, benefits, onboarding, performance management, unemployment compensation and employee records. The Human Resource Generalist will play an integral role in evaluating and updating human resource policies and procedures and will assist with recruitment as demands require.
The position requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, close attention to detail and the ability to effectively prioritize and balance a variety of tasks. The candidate must be proficient with Microsoft Office and demonstrate a strong work ethic and dependability.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

An Associate or Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Preferred Qualifications: Professional Certification in Human Resources (e.g., SHRM-CP/PHR)
Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

· Knowledge and application of human resource management policies, practices, and procedures
· Knowledge of law, regulations, and best practices in human resources
· Knowledge of administration of employee benefits and payroll systems and reporting
· Skills in performance management, employee relations and conflict resolution
· Knowledge of methods to drive employee engagement
· Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
· Ability to pay close attention to detail and achieve a high degree of accuracy when accomplishing tasks.
· Excellent interpersonal skills, strong skills in client service and strong written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities
  • Monitors and ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws including but not limited to the Fair Labor Standards Act, FMLA, ADA and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act.
  • Provides direction to managers and supervisors in the application of company policies and the use and retention of proper documentation.
  • Provides advice and assistance to managers and supervisors regarding matters of employee relations. Assists with employee disciplinary procedures.
  • Administers benefit programs including payroll, retirement, medical, Employee Assistance Program and all other insurance/benefit plans. Assists employees with training and other matters related to benefits.
  • Works with managers to identify learning needs; coordinates employee training and development programs; facilitates training sessions or hires qualified personnel to do so
  • Maintains and updates documentation including company policy manual and position descriptions. Ensures distribution and/or posting of required employee notices.
  • Develops and implements programs that improve employee engagement and help attract and retain talent.
  • Oversees recruiting and retention including interviewing, hiring, and onboarding; conducts exit interviews.
  • Supports timely performance reviews by scheduling employee evaluations.
  • Ensures timely processing of workers’ compensation claims; works with the safety committee in assessing safety concerns, investigates accidents and completes reports.
  • Works with management to assesses new positions and their respective duties to ensure the wages and salaries are properly valued.
  • Spearheads planning of special events.
