About the Role In this Human Resources Generalist role, you will play a key part in supporting HR operations across the employee lifecycle while serving as the primary owner of payroll processing, benefits administration, leaves of absence, workers’ compensation, HR compliance, and HRIS system maintenance. You will partner closely with employees, managers, and cross-functional teams across Idaho, Colorado, Minnesota, Montana, and Utah to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant HR processes. While this position has a primary focus areas, you will also cross-train with the broader HR team and provide support in other areas of HR including onboarding, employee relations, performance management, and recruiting to ensure seamless team coverage, collaboration, and continued professional development. The role is based in Boise, ID, and reports to the HR Manager. Requirements Process payroll accurately and on schedule, ensuring compliance with company policies and federal/state regulations. Maintain payroll records, audit data regularly, and research/resolve payroll-related inquiries. Administer employee benefits, including enrollments, qualifying life events, and ongoing employee support. Coordinate and track leaves of absence (FMLA, ADA, state-specific programs), ensuring accurate documentation, communication, and alignment with payroll and benefits processes. Support and track workers’ compensation claims, report incidents, coordinate with carriers, and assist with return-to-work documentation. Maintain and update HRIS records, ensuring accuracy, auditing data, and entering employee changes as needed. Prepare, update, and maintain HR-related reports and metrics (payroll, benefits, LOA, WC, compliance, and general HR reporting). Provide employees and managers with accurate guidance on payroll, benefits, LOA, and related policies. Ensure compliance with HR, payroll, benefits, LOA, and workers’ compensation regulations across multiple states. Support core HR functions including onboarding, orientation, employee relations support, performance management coordination, and offboarding as needed. Assist with policy updates, process documentation, and rollout of new HR processes. Identify opportunities for workflow improvements and escalate recommendations to HR leadership. Partner with HR team members to ensure consistency and accuracy across HR processes. Cross-train in other HR functions (recruiting, employee relations, onboarding) to support coverage when needed. Perform other related duties as assigned, in compliance with applicable laws and consistent with the essential functions of the role. Qualifications Required Minimum 3 years of progressive HR Generalist experience. Hands-on experience processing payroll and maintaining payroll records in compliance with federal, state, and local laws. Strong competency across multiple HR functions, including payroll processing, leaves of absence management, benefits administration, workers’ compensation, compliance, HRIS administration, recruiting, and employee relations. Experience working in and configuring HRIS and ATS platforms. Strong analytical skills with experience preparing HR-related reports and metrics. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Highly organized, adaptable, and able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Maintains a high degree of confidentiality, accuracy, and professionalism. Self-motivated, proactive, and excited about improving systems and outcomes. Strong problem-solving skills and a process-improvement mindset. Demonstrated follow-through, ownership, and resourcefulness. Preferred Experience using Paylocity HRIS system. PHR or SHRM-CP certification.
