Overview Verge Mobile, a T-Mobile Authorized Retailer, is seeking a Human Resources Generalist who thrives in a fast-paced retail environment and enjoys supporting employees and leaders across a growing organization. This is a great opportunity to join a collaborative HR team where you will play a key role in supporting field operations through employee relations, leave administration, and recruitment. This position will support our operations from our Houston (Royal Oaks) area office; hours are 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with work from home every Friday. This position reports to Verge Mobile’s VP of HR. Job Summary The Human Resources Generalist performs professional-level HR duties and partners closely with field leadership to support a broad range of HR functions. This role places a strong emphasis on employee relations, workplace investigations, leave of absence administration, and full-cycle recruitment while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and company policies. The HR Generalist serves as a strategic partner to management by providing guidance on employee relations matters, performance management, policy interpretation, and legal compliance in a multi-state retail environment. Responsibilities Employee Relations & Investigations Serve as the primary HR partner for assigned region(s), providing guidance on employee relations matters, conflict resolution, and performance management. Conduct employee relations investigations, including gathering documentation, interviewing employees, and making recommendations for resolution. Advise managers on appropriate coaching, counseling, disciplinary actions, and performance improvement plans. Manage and resolve employee grievances while ensuring consistent application of company policies. Provide guidance on sensitive workplace matters including harassment, misconduct, and policy violations. Leave of Absence & Compliance Manage and administer leave of absence programs, including FMLA, ADA accommodations, personal, military, and medical leaves. Serve as the primary point of contact for employees and managers regarding leave processes and documentation requirements. Maintain accurate tracking and reporting of leave cases and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations. Support the organization with unemployment claims, EEOC matters, and other employment-related issues as needed. Recruitment & Talent Acquisition Manage full-cycle recruitment for retail and corporate positions, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and coordinating hiring decisions. Partner with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and develop effective recruiting strategies. Ensure a positive candidate experience and maintain compliance with hiring practices and documentation. Support onboarding and new hire orientation processes. HR Operations & Support Respond to HR-related inquiries regarding company policies, procedures, and employment practices. Support benefits administration activities including coordination and reconciliation as needed. Maintain employee records and assist with HRIS/ATS data audits and reporting. Assist with the development and maintenance of HR policies, procedures, and standard operating documents. Research and interpret employment laws and regulations including Wage & Hour, FLSA, and Title VII to ensure company compliance. Support field leadership with HR processes, reporting, and best practices. Assume additional responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications Experience: 3–5 years of Human Resources experience, with a strong focus on employee relations, investigations, and HR compliance Experience managing leave of absence programs (FMLA, ADA, or similar) Experience supporting full-cycle recruitment Experience supporting multi-state operations California employment law experience is a plus Retail, restaurant, or multi-unit HR experience strongly preferred Experience with HRIS/ATS systems such as ADP Workforce Now, UKG, Paycom, Paylocity, or PeopleSoft preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred Strong knowledge of Wage & Hour, FLSA, and federal employment laws Excellent interpersonal, conflict resolution, and investigative skills Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to partner effectively with employees at all levels Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment Self-directed with the ability to take initiative and solve problems Min USD $72,500.00/Annually
