EXPERIENCED HR GENERALIST POSITION OVERVIEW:

Weitsman Recycling – Upstate Shredding is seeking a seasoned and detail-oriented HR Generalist with expertise in OSHA compliance and Workers’ Compensation to join our Human Resources team. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in HR operations, a deep understanding of workplace safety regulations, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive work environment. While bilingual proficiency in Spanish is not required, it is a significant advantage.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of HR Generalist experience, with a proven track record in OSHA compliance and Workers’ Compensation management.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field considered; equivalent experience preferred.

SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and Workers’ Compensation processes.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with HRIS systems (Paychex Is A Plus)
  • Language Proficiency: Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish (spoken and written) is a significant advantage but not required.

Responsibilities
  • Employee Relations & Support: Act as a trusted point of contact for employees, addressing inquiries, resolving complex HR issues, and fostering a positive workplace culture. Facilitate communication with Spanish-speaking employees if bilingual.
  • OSHA & Workers’ Compensation Compliance: Oversee compliance with OSHA regulations, conduct safety audits, and manage Workers’ Compensation claims, ensuring accurate documentation and timely resolution to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Recruitment & Onboarding: Lead full-cycle recruitment, including job postings, candidate screening, interviews, and selection. Develop and manage a comprehensive onboarding program to ensure smooth integration of new hires.
  • Policy & Compliance Management: Maintain and update HR policies to align with federal, state, and local labor laws. Ensure accurate employee records and compliance with regulatory requirements, including OSHA and Workers’ Compensation documentation.
  • Training & Development: Design and implement training programs focused on safety, compliance, and professional development. Deliver bilingual training sessions (if applicable) to ensure accessibility for Spanish-speaking employees.
  • Administrative Leadership: Manage HRIS systems and administer benefits programs. Provide guidance on complex HR inquiries related to pay, benefits, and workplace policies.
