Job Type: FULL TIME
VI Tree is a leading arboriculture company serving Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland. We prioritize professionalism, safety, and sustainable practices — and we’re growing. This is a full-time, HR position covering a 12–18 month maternity leave but will definitely work into another role if the employee returns.

POSITION SUMMARY:

As HR Lead, you’ll build and oversee the day-to-day HR operations at VI Tree, from payroll and benefits to policy development and compliance. This role offers the opportunity to create lasting systems, support our employees, and shape company culture as we scale.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3+ years of experience in HR, ideally in a leadership or standalone role
  • Strong working knowledge of BC labour laws, payroll, and benefits administration
  • Experience with HRIS and payroll platforms (e.g., BambooHR, Payworks)
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities with accuracy and confidentiality
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Experience in client services or admin training is an asset
Responsibilities
  • Manage full-cycle payroll, including special cases, approvals, and resolving discrepancies
  • Oversee benefits administration (Health Insurance, RRSP, TFSA) and employee expense reimbursements
  • Ensure compliance with BC Labour Standards, WCB, ROEs, and other provincial/federal regulations
  • Handle onboarding, terminations, and employee file management
  • Respond to HR inquiries from staff and management
  • Conduct HR investigations and support issue resolution
  • Implement and maintain HR systems and processes
  • Recommend and roll out policy updates to improve operations and employee experience
  • Support administrative training and assist with client communications as needed
