Experience

  • Minimum 4 years of related experience in Human Resources, ideally in an advisor-level position or equivalent.
  • Experience in immigration processes, including knowledge of visa types, applications, and legal requirements.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Ability to identify and mitigate risk.
  • Effectively communicates with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds; listens and builds collaborative relationships.
  • Works under pressure and deadlines.
  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential employee information appropriately.

Responsibilities

ROLE:

Surerus Murphy Joint Venture (SMJV) is seeking a Human Resources Advisor to join our team. This position will be responsible for processing immigration applications and other immigration-related paperwork involved in cross-border immigration primarily between the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. This position will also support a variety of human resources programs and initiatives. A successful candidate will have a solid understanding of HR programs, processes, and understanding of immigration laws, policies, and procedures, in addition to a strong customer service focus.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Immigration::

  • Prepare, review, and liaise with external legal counsel to submit visa applications and supporting documentation for employees migrating between the US, Canada, and the UK.
  • Advise the organization and employees on the best immigration pathways, eligibility criteria, and documentation requirements.
  • Ensure all applications comply with the respective immigration laws and regulations of the involved countries. Track deadlines and ensure timely submission of all materials.
  • Regularly monitor the status of applications and proactively communicate with legal counsel and employees.
  • Identify potential issues in the visa process or eligibility and propose solutions to minimize delays.
  • Coordinate reverification and expiring work authorizations.
  • Stay current with changes in immigration laws and policies.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients by offering professional and confidential service
  • Provide ongoing support and guidance throughout the entire immigration process.
  • Maintain accurate records of all cases, communications, and documentation in line with internal standards and legal requirements.
  • Create secondment agreements that clearly define the terms, responsibilities, and expectations, ensuring compliance with both home and host country laws and regulations.
  • Coordinate cross-border tax services as needed.
  • Create standardized immigration processes by capturing and documenting various internal and external procedures, ensuring consistency and compliance across the organization.
  • Create and manage a comprehensive secondee process to support employees being temporarily assigned to work in different countries or regions, including providing support, employee experience, and compliance with host country regulations.

Human Resources::

  • Generate various employee lifecycle documents with accuracy and coordinate changes with various stakeholders within the business.
  • Assist employees at all stages of the employee lifecycle to address concerns and questions.
  • Responsible for administering multiple aspects of the company’s reward programs.
  • Responsible for coordinating various annual human resources programs.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of HR, programs, policies, and procedures based on business need, research, market data, and emerging trends.
  • Draft guidance documents for various HR programs.
  • Implementing, tracking, and reporting on various HR programs.
  • Assisting with recruitment, onboarding, and offboarding activities as needed.
  • Triage employee requests to applicable HR unit(s) and/or provide direct support to employees.
  • Assist in special projects supporting HR priorities and business initiatives.

Note: In addition to these duties personnel are required to carry out such other duties as may be reasonably required in order to support the objectives of the company.
