This is a hands-on, standalone HR position supporting more than 80 employees across all dealership departments.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Corporate Financial Controller, the HR Generalist manages the day-to-day HR function and serves as the main point of contact for employees and managers.

Phyton Biotech determines an individual’s pay based on multiple factors including experience, education, job-related skills, and equity within the team or organization. The compensation range for this role is $70,000K - $85,000.

A day in the department would include:

· HR Strategy & Advisory

Provide HR consultation, direction, and support to management on workforce planning, talent management, succession planning, retention, engagement, compensation, employee relations, and legislative compliance.

· Employee Relations & Performance Management

Coach and advise managers on performance, conduct, conflict resolution, employee relations, and performance review processes, while supporting the identification and development of key talent.

· Recruitment & Talent Acquisition

Manage and support the recruitment process, including job postings, candidate screening, interview coordination, background checks, reference checks, and preparation of employment offers.

· Onboarding & Employee Lifecycle Administration

Coordinate onboarding and orientation and oversee accurate, timely employee documentation throughout the complete employment lifecycle, from hire through termination.

· HRIS & Employee Records Management

Maintain accurate and confidential employee files and HRIS records, ensuring all required documentation, employee information, and employment status changes are complete and up to date.

· HR Programs, Policies & Employee Support

Provide employees and managers with guidance regarding HR policies, benefits, vacation, employment changes, and HR processes, while supporting the communication and implementation of company-wide HR programs.

· Payroll & Leave Administration

Administer bi-weekly payroll, including payroll changes, deductions, benefit contributions, and reconciliation and tracking of leaves of absence.

· Benefits, Retirement & Wellness Programs

Administer employee benefits and RSP programs, respond to employee inquiries, coordinate annual enrollment and renewals, analyze plan costs and utilization, and liaise with benefit providers and brokers.

· Health, Safety & Regulatory Administration

Coordinate annual medical surveillance programs and maintain confidential medical records, while managing WorkSafe/WCB reporting, injury documentation, claims follow-up, and related regulatory requirements.

· HR Reporting, Metrics & Projects

Prepare and analyze HR reports and metrics—including headcount, turnover, vacation, training, and employee data—and provide administrative and project support for company-wide People initiatives and communications

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum 3-5 years Human Resources related experience within Canada
  • In-depth, practical knowledge of employment law and compliance issues within Canada
  • Comprehensive knowledge within the Canadian benefits landscape, proven ability to provide guidance and act as a subject matter expert on all benefits related inquires
  • Possesses comprehensive knowledge of payroll legislation in British Columbia and demonstrates extensive experience in payroll administration
  • Experience with RRSP/TFSA and Group Retirement plan administration is an asset
  • Experience supporting HR activities in a regulated, cGMP Pharmaceutical Biotech Environment considered an asset
  • Human Resource Certificate, Diploma or equivalent is required
  • CPHR designation, or progress toward the designation, is considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Recruitment Support: Assist with full-cycle recruitment by posting job advertisements, filtering resumes, scheduling interviews, conducting initial phone screenings, and coordinating the onboarding process for new hires.
  • Payroll & Attendance Management: Monitor, track, and maintain daily employee attendance data; compile time cards and coordinate payroll cycles to ensure accurate hours are processed.
  • HR Administration & Compliance: Assist in maintaining and updating employee handbooks and internal announcements; ensure standard HR processes align with provincial employment standards and workplace regulations.
  • Performance Support: Help prepare and distribute performance evaluation materials and assist in tracking baseline team productivity metrics.

Experience

  • Language: Professional fluency (both verbal and written) in English and Chinese (Mandarin) is required.
  • Education: College diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
  • CHRP designation is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum 1 years of progressive experience in an HR administration or general office administrative role.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience using HRIS, payroll systems, or ATS (Applicant Tracking Systems) is a strong asset.
  • Core Competencies: Solid fundamental knowledge of provincial employment standards; excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills with a high attention to detail.
