Description

Wenco International Mining Systems (www.wencomine.com), a subsidiary of Hitachi Construction Machinery (HCM), provides industry leading, innovative technologies to customers in the mining and material movement sectors, enabling sustainable and safe operations.
Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the Human Resources Assistant’s primary responsibility is to provide support to the HR team. This is a one-year contract position.

Experience and Knowledge

  • Zero to 1 year of experience in a relevant role
  • Post-Secondary education in Business Management or Human Resources
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Basic knowledge of local legislation requirements
  • Occupational First Aid Level 1 Certification an asse

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to understand, learn and apply new processes
  • Strong organizational skills, with an ability to prioritize incoming inquiries
  • Detail oriented
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to write clear, formal business communications
  • Understand the importance of confidentiality and be able to handle confidential information and documentation in a professional manner
  • Spanish language proficiency is an asse
Responsibilities

The following key deliverables and responsibilities apply across all Wenco regional offices, including those in Canada, United States, South Africa, Australia (APAC) and Chile.

  • Participate in talent acquisition process by handling job postings, screening resumes, scheduling interviews, assisting in interviews, and conducting reference checks
  • Prepare employee documentation (including employment agreements, offer letters, HR related letters) and new employee files and ensure new hire is set up within Dayforce (HRIS)
  • Conduct new hire orientation, including in-person or online sessions for the local region where applicable.
  • Maintain and organize employee records and HR documentation, including active and terminated personnel files
  • Maintain Dayforce (HRIS) by entering and updating employee data
  • Maintain records related to disciplinary actions, medical/short term disability claims and other employee related matters
  • Schedule training sessions for training conducted by HR team
  • Assist in planning of Social Committee events
  • Key member of local Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee
  • Ad-hoc projects as required

Experience and Knowledge
