Description The Human Resources Assistant supports the HR department in managing day-to-day operations related to employee relations, recruitment, compliance, and administrative functions within the school transportation and custodial industries. This role ensures HR processes align with industry regulations and helps maintain a safe, compliant, and efficient workforce. Requirements Key Responsibilities: Assist with recruitment efforts, including posting job openings, scheduling interviews, and coordinating onboarding for drivers, dispatchers, and support staff Maintain employee records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and transportation-specific regulations (e.g., DOT requirements) Support onboarding and orientation processes, including background checks, drug screenings, and license verifications Track and manage employee certifications such as CDL licenses, medical cards, and safety training records Assist in payroll processing, timekeeping, and benefits administration Respond to employee inquiries regarding HR policies, benefits, and procedures Help coordinate training programs, safety meetings, and compliance workshops Support disciplinary procedures and documentation in line with company policies Ensure proper filing and confidentiality of sensitive HR documents Assist with audits and reporting related to labor laws and transportation compliance standards Qualifications: Associate or bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred 1–2 years of administrative or HR experience (transportation or logistics experience a plus) Knowledge of HR practices and employment laws; familiarity with DOT regulations is highly desirable Strong organizational and multitasking skills Proficiency in HR software systems and Microsoft Office Suite Excellent communication and interpersonal skills High level of confidentiality and attention to detail
