THE OPPORTUNITY:

Under general supervision of the Manager, People and Culture / Human Resources Generalist, the Human Resources Assistant/Intern provides administrative support for the day-to-day operations of the human resources functions and duties. This position is focused on providing customer service and answering a variety of inquiries related to human resources activities, processes, policies, and procedures. This position also performs a variety of tasks requiring specialized knowledge related to area of assignment. This role is ideal for someone looking to gain experience in human resources or office administration in a supportive and learning-focused environment.
NOTE: This is a 4-month contract with the possibility of extension.
NOTE: This role is primarily remote with the possibility of 10-20% in person component located in the Simcoe Muskoka region.

Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate strong support and commitment to the mission and core values of the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka and the YMCA in Canada.
  • Demonstrate strong support and commitment to serving the membership, facility users and all program participants of the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka.
  • Provide administrative support to the People and Culture team as needed.
  • Help organize and maintain employee records and digital files in accordance with legal requirements and association policies and procedures.
  • Support the hiring process by helping to track applications and assist with onboarding and off-boarding materials.
  • Assist with data entry and processing of employee information in our HR system (e.g., Dayforce).
  • Prepare standard correspondence such as letters, memos and forms.
  • Assist with pension and benefits administration as needed.
  • Processes staff changes, including verifying new hire packages, termination, status change, renewals.
  • Help respond to employee inquiries and direct them to the appropriate person or resources.
  • Support the coordination of training, meetings, and HR events.
  • Assist with scanning, filing, and general admin duties.
  • Assists with the day-to-day efficient operation of the HR/People and Culture department.
  • Adherence to all provincial and federal legislation relevant to job description.
  • Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned.
