Job Description


The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) acts as a strategic advisor to business leaders, driving people‑focused initiatives that enable organisational performance, workforce capability, and a high‑quality employee experience. This role partners closely with leaders to deliver effective workforce planning, talent management, employee relations, and organisational development.

Lead, manage, and promote people management practices to achieve success through excellent stakeholder relationships and continuous service improvement activities for the region, including but not limited to:

  • Coordinating, developing, and implementing HR solutions that address key workforce challenges.
  • Using HR knowledge to shape both strategic and operational advice to meet business needs.
  • Proactively developing and sustaining relationships across the business to ensure a comprehensive understanding of opportunities and challenges, and identifying people management development opportunities.
  • Supporting business units with succession planning.
  • Developing and leading best practice across the end‑to‑end employee life cycle.
  • Policy development and documentation.
  • Reward and recognition strategies.
  • Driving retention strategies through strategic human resources business partnering.
  • Ensuring appropriate communication at all levels.
  • Leading and guiding managers in the resolution of performance and employee relations matters.

Join Our Team

The Midcoast Trucks Group is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Human Resources Assistant to join our growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build their career in Human Resources while working in a dynamic and supportive environment. We are a family owned business which has been in operation for 34 years. We have locations in both Macksville and Coffs Harbour.

Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, you will provide administrative and operational support across all areas of HR, helping to ensure our people processes run smoothly and efficiently.

Key Responsibiities

  • Provide administrative support across recruitment, onboarding, training, and employee lifecycle activities.
  • Coordinate new employee inductions and onboarding documentation.
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HR databases.
  • Assist with recruitment activities including advertising, screening applications, scheduling interviews, and reference checking.
  • Support the preparation of employment contracts, letters, and HR documentation.
  • Assist managers and employees with HR-related enquiries.
  • Coordinate training records and compliance requirements.
  • Support payroll administration by ensuring personnel records and documentation are accurate and current.
  • Assist with workers compensation, return-to-work, and WHS administration where required.
  • Contribute to employee engagement initiatives and company events.
  • Ensure confidentiality and compliance with employment legislation and company policies.
  • The successful applicant will be based in our Macksville Operation but will be required to regularly attend our Coffs Harbour Branch.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Previous administration experience, ideally within Human Resources or a similar office environment.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • High level of professionalism and discretion when handling confidential information.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
