START YOUR HR CAREER WITH HEART

Are you organized, people-focused, and excited to grow your career in human resources?
Mountain Valley Developmental Services (MVDS) is looking for a Human Resources Assistant who’s ready to learn, take initiative, and make a difference. You don’t need to have a background in HR — just the motivation to grow, the willingness to learn, and the drive to support others.

ABOUT US

MVDS is a nonprofit that provides services and advocacy for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities across Garfield, Eagle, Lake, and Pitkin counties. Our HR team plays a key role in supporting the amazing staff who make our mission possible. This role is your opportunity to join a supportive, collaborative, and mission-driven workplace where you’ll gain valuable experience in recruiting, payroll, benefits, and more.

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

You don’t need to be an HR expert — we’ll teach you! We’re looking for someone who:

  • Is friendly, approachable, and loves helping people
  • Brings positive energy and a willingness to learn
  • Can stay organized and detail-oriented even when things get busy
  • Isn’t afraid to ask questions, take initiative, or jump in and try something new
  • Is excited to build a future in human resources
  • Has previous administrative/ office/ or healthcare experience in some way!

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Comfortable using computers and learning new systems (Excel, email, online portals)
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Colorado driver’s license and eligibility to work in the U.S.
HR or administrative experience is a bonus — but not required.
Responsibilities

As our HR Assistant, you’ll be a hands-on part of our close-knit HR team. We’ll train you on systems and processes — and you’ll bring the energy, organization, and people skills to help keep everything moving.

Your day-to-day will include:

  • Running payroll processing — reviewing timecards, learning Paycom, and ensuring accuracy
  • Managing recruiting — posting jobs, reviewing applications, scheduling interviews and running the process!
  • Welcoming new hires — preparing onboarding paperwork and making their first days feel smooth and supported
  • Updating employee records in our HRIS and keeping everything organized
  • Answering employee questions or helping them find the info they need
  • Learning about benefits, leave processes, compliance, and more

This is a great stepping stone role if you’re curious about HR and want to gain real experience in a supportive setting.
