Description The HR Assistant is an integral member of The National Domestic Violence Hotline’s People Team. This role will work closely with team members to support daily operations and coordinate processes and projects across key HR functions, including talent acquisition, employee experience, employee lifecycle, and benefits and leave administration. The HR Assistant will also serve as a first point of contact for HR-related inquiries, ensuring timely and accurate support for staff and external contacts. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, excellent organizational and communication skills, and commitment to discretion and confidentiality. A strong alignment with The Hotline’s mission, vision, shared commitments, and values is essential. This is a full-time, hybrid role with a requirement to work in the office two days per week. In-office days will be scheduled based on department needs. Compensation: The starting hourly rate is $23, with an additional bilingual differential if applicable. Essential Responsibilities & Duties Support People Team functions across all HR Operations, including recruitment, onboarding, orientation, integration, performance management, and offboarding. Assist in benefits enrollment activities, open enrollment processes, and communication efforts. Assist with scheduling interviews, preparing candidate communications, and supporting hiring managers throughout the recruitment process. Support phone, video and in-person interviews for various roles. Problem-solve and manage interview cancellations, changing schedules, buggy Zoom links, and more. Maintain accurate employee records within the HRIS and other systems; assist with data clean-up, audits, and reporting. Assist with employment verification letters, reference checks, background checks, and I9 Verification. Provide initial support to employees with benefits and leave-related questions and escalate when needed. Coordinate internal transfers to support the Program Services Team Support employee offboarding process including email communication about final pay and benefits, exit survey, and equipment return. Support employee engagement programs, recognition efforts, and People Team events. Assist with HR-related projects, including long-term initiatives, process improvements, and cross-department efforts. Handle sensitive information with a high degree of professionalism, privacy, and discretion Requirements Education & Experience Required Associates degree in related field 2 years relevant experience Or equivalent combination of education and experience High technical proficiency with Microsoft Suite and Zoom. Knowledge Skills and Abilities Ability to maintain confidentiality and navigate sensitive information with professionalism Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to easily connect with all types of people Ability to solve problems and think strategically, independently, and execute proactively Must be a self-starter, and possess a great “no task is too small” attitude A curiosity and passion to learn a lot Always pushing things forward and simplifying our processes and procedures. Excellent customer service focus, attention to detail and organization skills Bilingual in Spanish (preferred) Other Requirements/Working Conditions This role is hybrid position based in Austin, Texas. Must have a home workspace that is confidential, secure and free from distraction. This position requires a minimum of 2 days a week in the office. Specific days are to be determined by the department's needs. Must maintain a stable internet connection with at least 10 MBPS download and 2 MBPS upload speeds. Must maintain standards of confidentiality related to agency information.
