We are currently looking to hire a Human Resources Associate to join our Total Rewards Team. As the ideal candidate you bring a strong analytical approach as well as an interest and understanding of benefits or pension industry. Others would describe you as an excellent communicator who strives to provide exceptional customer service.
The Total Rewards team, part of Emera’s Corporate Human Resources Team, is responsible for the design, communication and administration of compensation, benefits, and pensions for Emera’s Canadian Operating Companies. This position will be appealing to someone looking for a role on a high performing team with room for growth.

As the HR Associate, Benefits, you will be responsible for:

  • Supporting the benefits, pensions and wellbeing portfolios (including health, dental, insurances), for the Canadian Operating Companies;
  • Providing superior service to our employees, retirees and service providers regarding pensions, benefits and wellbeing matters, as well as managing external vendors;
  • Researching and implementing continuous improvements to our processes and approaches;
  • Facilitating changes to employee information as it relates to pension, benefits and wellbeing and managing communication materials for employees and retirees;
  • This role requires an understanding of HRIS systems (i.e Peoplesoft);
  • Other ad hoc duties as required to support our Total Rewards team.

  • A post-secondary degree or diploma in Human Resources, or equivalent experience;
  • Combined with a designation in employee benefits and/or pension plans, such as CEBS is preferred;
  • Benefits or pension program management experience an asset;
  • Strong attention to detail and auditing for accuracy;
  • Ability to handle demanding situations calmy and effectively;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to manage stakeholder relationships providing a high level of customer service;
  • Ability to work with digital technology and effectively utilize technology to drive change and departmental enhancements;
  • An understanding of pension plans or total compensation would be considered an asset.
