Position: Human Resources Business Partner Temporary 16 months contract (Mat Leave Coverage)

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
Education & Knowledge
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- CHRL designation preferred (or working towards it), in good standing with HRPA.
- In-depth knowledge of employment law, labour relations, and HR best practices.
- Familiarity with the Ontario Labour Relations Code, Employment Standards Act, Occupational Health & Safety Act, and related legislation.
Experience
- 7-10 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 3 years in a senior/lead HR Business Partner role.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a unionized environment; experience in the energy sector or a regulated industry is an asset.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong consulting and influencing skills, with the ability to work confidently at all organizational levels.
- Expertise in performance management, employee relations, and workplace accommodations.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, including mediation, conflict resolution, and relationship management.
- Clear and compelling communication skills, both verbal and written, for business correspondence and presentations.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to manage complex situations, prioritize tasks, and make sound recommendations.
- High level of tact, diplomacy, and discretion when handling sensitive information.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to thrive in a dynamic and evolving environment.
- A valid Class “G” driver’s license.
Working Conditions
- This role is based in a hybrid environment, allowing for a mix of remote and in-office work to support team collaboration and business needs.
- Travel may be required to various work locations.

As a Human Resources Business Partner, you will be a trusted advisor, providing expert guidance and support on labour and employee relations, recruitment, HR programs, and organizational initiatives. You’ll work closely with leaders and employees across all levels to ensure that our HR practices not only meet business needs but also foster a positive and engaged work environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Workplace Collaboration & Engagement
- Partner with business leaders to create a productive, inclusive, and engaged workplace that enhances customer satisfaction and organizational success.
- Provide coaching and support to leaders to address employee and labour relations challenges, focusing on proactive solutions that align with business goals.
Employee & Labour Relations
- Develop and implement strategies that build trust, accountability, and collaboration among employees and union representatives.
- Advise leaders on employee and labour relations matters, including interpreting collective agreements, addressing performance or attendance concerns, and managing grievances.
- Facilitate resolution of workplace issues by acting as a mediator and providing practical guidance to leaders and employees.
HR Program Development
- Support the design and implementation of HR programs such as performance management, employee engagement, and learning and development initiatives.
- Collaborate with leaders on workforce planning, recruitment, onboarding, and succession planning to ensure the organization has the talent it needs to succeed.
Policy Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with employment laws, collective agreements, and organizational policies, including health and safety regulations.
- Provide expertise on matters such as workplace accommodations, employee wellness, and return-to-work programs.
