The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) – Canada provides strategic and operational HR support to employees across corporate, manufacturing, and field service operations, with emphasis on supporting the Scarborough manufacturing facility and shopfloor workforce. This role partners with operational leaders to drive workforce productivity, engagement, and compliance while aligning with Armstrong’s global HR strategy and Canadian employment legislation.
This position is located at Armstrong’s Global Headquarters in Scarborough.
In addition to annual initiatives, the key accountabilities of this position are:

RECRUITMENT, ONBOARDING & OFFBOARDING

  • Lead the full-cycle recruitment process executive & non-executive roles in Canada, including shopfloor, field service, and professional positions, in partnership with the Total Rewards CoE and hiring managers.
  • Develop recruitment strategies to attract skilled trades and technical talent for the manufacturing and operations environment.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers to refine job descriptions and selection criteria.
  • Oversee onboarding, including pre-hire documentation, safety orientations, Armstrong Learning Academy programs, and structured 30-60-90-day probation reviews.
  • Manage offboarding processes, including exit interviews, asset recovery, and Records of Employment (RoE) completion.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field; CHRP designation or working towards CHRL preferred.
  • 6–8 years of progressive HR experience, with significant time spent supporting manufacturing and/or field service operations.
  • Strong understanding of HR principles, best practices, and Canadian employment legislation (ESA, OHSA, Human Rights Code, WSIB).
  • Proven experience in shopfloor employee relations, recruitment of skilled trades, and workforce development in a union-free manufacturing environment.
  • Skilled at balancing strategic priorities with hands-on operational support.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a bias for action.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
