QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree required, CHRL designation is preferred.
  • 8+ years’ human resources or business experience in positions of increasing responsibilities, experience within Biotech or Pharmaceuticals is preferred.
  • Successful track record of partnering with client groups at multiple levels of the organization.
  • Dynamic human resources leader who can coach managers and advise on organizational design.
  • Ability to design and execute project plans, identifying interdependencies and incorporating related communication/change management plans.
  • Experience in influencing/negotiations and stakeholder management.
  • Strong points of view on how to scale culture including best practices in team dynamics, and ensuring organizational values are realized.
  • Strong partner to all human resources specialty areas to drive creative programs and solutions.
  • Excellent execution skills and the ability to translate human resources strategy into actionable initiatives.
  • Strong consultation skills and the ability to influence at all levels.

Responsibilities

THE ROLE

As a strategic Human Resources Business Partner based on-site in Hamilton, ON, you will serve as a trusted consultant to business leaders, providing expert guidance and solutions on a wide range of organizational and people-related matters. You will drive the development and implementation of HR strategies, ensuring seamless support for both day-to-day operations and long-term initiatives.
Your responsibilities will include building strong relationships across the business and HR organization, facilitating the successful integration and assimilation of employees through the AstraZeneca (AZ) transition, and championing diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
You will leverage your expertise in employee relations, compliance, and HR best practices to address complex workplace issues, support talent planning and career development, and oversee core HR processes such as performance management, compensation, onboarding, and benefits administration. Your collaborative approach and proactive mindset will be essential in partnering with leaders and supporting a positive employee experience, all while maintaining a firm grasp on regulatory changes, trends, and technological advancements in the HR field.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as a consultant and provide strategic human resources business leadership to client groups located in our Canadian office, through coaching and by providing advice on a range of organizational and people-related issues.
  • Partner with business leaders in defining and implementing strategies and solutions and be the trusted point of contact for day-to-day support on key operational components of human resources.
  • Build strong partnerships across the human resources organization and with key partners to inform and implement company-wide programs and initiatives while ensuring the client group’s needs are understood and met.
  • Support the AZ Integration and assisting employees through the assimilation to AZ
  • Effectively support employee relations dynamics, artful conflict resolution, and understanding of compliance and employment law, knowing when to consult with Chief Legal Officer and external legal counsel.
  • Collaborate on a company-wide initiatives with a focus on diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.
  • Partner with client groups to implement and manage all human resources processes including performance management, compensation, talent planning and review, workforce planning (including promotions and internal transfers), organization design, immigration matters, and employee career development.
  • Ensure onboarding plans are in place for new employees that are aligned with a positive employee experience.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources.
  • Oversee human resources operational functions including benefits administration, ADP Workforce Now System and partner closely with Accounting/Finance.
