Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Are you a people-first HR professional looking for a meaningful role in a family-owned business with a laid-back atmosphere? We’re a close-knit team in the agriculture industry, and we’re looking for an HR Business Partner who thrives in a supportive environment and is passionate about creating a great employee experience. Kalmbach is a multi-generational agricultural business rooted in hard work, community, and integrity. As a family-run operation, we pride ourselves on treating our team like family too. Our culture is collaborative, calm, and down-to-earth—no corporate red tape here, just honest work and strong relationships.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

As our Human Resources Business Partner, you’ll support the people side of our business and help maintain the positive, respectful culture we’ve built. You’ll work closely with leadership and employees across departments to ensure our HR processes are smooth, compliant, and centered around people—not paperwork. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, prefers a steady pace over high pressure, and wants to make a meaningful impact in a values-driven company.

People & Culture

  • Act as a trusted HR contact for employees and managers
  • Promote a respectful, inclusive, and supportive work environment
  • Manage employee relations with professionalism, empathy, and confidentiality
  • Coach leaders on communication, feedback, and team dynamics

Benefits Administration & Compliance

  • Administer employee benefits programs, including medical, dental, and vision
  • Lead open enrollment each year and support employees with benefits questions
  • Coordinate company-paid benefits including short-term disability, long-term disability, and life insurance
  • Ensure compliance with employment laws and internal policies
  • Maintain accurate, confidential employee records and manage HRIS data

Employee Engagement & Recognition

  • Plan and coordinate company events, celebrations, and employee appreciation efforts
  • Oversee service award programs and other recognition initiatives
  • Support ongoing employee feedback processes, such as informal surveys or check-ins
  • HR Operations & Policy Development
  • Maintain and update the employee handbook and company policies
  • Recommend process improvements that enhance the employee experience
  • Support payroll coordination and general HR administrative tasks
  • Help ensure a consistent, values-aligned workplace culture
