REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Human Resources – a combination of education and relevant work experience will also be considered
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or a related field;
  • Experience working in the transportation or logistics industry (an asset)
  • Experience working in a unionized environment (an asset)
  • Experience with Pay Transparency Reporting (an asset)
  • CPHR designation or working toward certification (an asset)
  • Excellent knowledge of British Columbia employment laws, standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Proven ability to work independently while fostering collaboration across departments and teams
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and organized, able to balance multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Responsibilities
  • Lead full-cycle recruitment and onboarding for union and non-union roles, including assessing staffing needs, conducting interviews, preparing and presenting offers, and managing successful new hire integration
  • Manage driver-specific requirements such as compliance registrations (fuel cards, Dangerous Goods certificates, port pass) and equipment distribution
  • Execute employee terminations with professionalism, ensuring alignment with company policy, employment legislation, and respectful offboarding practices
  • Manage grievances and coach managers through performance and conduct challenges
  • Lead investigations and oversee the administration of disciplinary measures using the company’s progressive discipline framework, delivering fair, consistent, and policy-compliant resolutions
  • Prepare all required documentation and liaise with the Head Office for strategic guidance and escalation when required
  • Respond to employee inquiries and requests, including personal information updates (e.g. address, contact details) and other HR-related needs by coordinating with the Head Office
  • Prepare standard documentation such as employment confirmation letters and support employees’ requests as needed
  • Serve as the primary contact for union-related matters while respecting the CBA agreement procedures
  • Collaborate with the social committee to support the planning and coordination of company events and employee engagement initiatives
  • Manage all leave (sick, disability, parental, work injury, etc.) requests and ensure smooth return-to-work transitions
  • Coordinate the receipt of benefit payments during leaves, ensuring timely submission and preventing accumulation or delays in processing
  • Oversee WorkSafeBC claims and injury documentation
  • Participate in Health & Safety committee meetings, monitor incident reports, and coordinate first aid trainings and emergency drills
  • Coordinate driver compliance programs and liaise with external partners
  • Support the development and implementation of HR policies and maintain job descriptions in collaboration with the Head Office and senior managers
