The position is located on the Monroe Park campus, but the position requires frequent travel to VCU’s MCV campus, the location of the Health Sciences Library. This is not a remote position.

The Human Resources Business Partner will be a key player in driving HR strategies, working to ensure alignment with organizational and university goals, and enhancing the overall experience for employees and managers of VCU Libraries. The HR Business Partner contributes to the execution and delivery of effective HR strategies, services and programs. Through collaboration and relationship building, the HR Business Partner works with internal stakeholders and works to identify critical issues and/or gaps and proposes and implements changes designed to support the goals of VCU Libraries. In addition to core HR functions, this role places strong emphasis on project management, HRIS systems proficiency and the ability to develop and deliver effective training programs to stakeholders.
Reporting to the Associate Dean for Organizational Development (AD/OD), the HR Business Partner is responsible for daily operations of the human resources functions for more than 120 full-time employees, including Teaching and Research Faculty, Classified and University and Academic Professional employees, as well as approximately 100 student assistants and hourly employees. Responsibilities will include employee relations, performance management, recruitment, and learning and development.
Responsibilities:
The HRBP oversees and manages day-to-day critical operations of the Libraries Human Resources department, including staff and faculty recruitment, onboarding and offboarding, learning and development, performance management, and employee relations. The HRBP coaches leaders to collaboratively determine the best solutions regarding performance issues, change management, conflict resolution, and ensuring alignment with the Libraries mission and values and our strategic framework. The successful candidate will partner with managers and supervisors to develop HR strategies to support the organization.
