As we continue to grow, we are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Compliance Manager to ensure that our organization—and our clients—stay compliant in an ever-evolving regulatory landscape. This role requires a “hands-on” approach in managing risk, shaping policy, and overseeing legal and regulatory compliance across all areas of our business. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of payroll law, benefits regulations (including ERISA) and HR policy, and brings a proactive and organized approach to risk mitigation. QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Law, Human Resource Management or related fields.
  • Preferred: Juris Doctor from an American Bar Association approved University or MBA or relevant certifications.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a compliance, legal, or regulatory affairs role, preferably in payroll, HR, or benefits administration.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, payroll law, ERISA, and multi-jurisdictional compliance.
  • Exceptional legal research and analytical skills.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
  • Must be able to take initiative and have the ability to handle multiple issues on a tight timeline.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and regulatory research tools.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience advising executive leadership or acting in a consultative compliance role.
  • Experience in HR outsourcing, payroll services, or PEO/ASO environments strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with multiple employer retirement plans (MEPs).

Responsibilities
  • Compliance Oversight: Ensures on-going compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws/regulations related to payroll, human resources, benefits, and ERISA.
  • Compliance Liaison: Acts as a compliance liaison and resource to the EmployShare Team across key departments; including providing guidance to team members and interpreting laws, regulations, and industry-specific compliance requirements. Provides support for client-related matters when necessary.
  • Regulatory Research & Analysis: Monitors, analyzes, and interprets new and existing federal, state and local laws affecting payroll, benefits, human resources, and tax administration across multiple jurisdictions. Tracks and assesses pending legislation that may impact clients or internal operations.
  • Risk Management & Policy Development: In conjunction with the President and Chief Executive Officer, responsible for assessing internal risk, leading internal risk assessments, developing mitigation strategies, and facilitating decision-making based on legal developments and risk assessments.
  • Client Communications: Creates memorandums and compliance updates to communicate regulatory changes to clients.
  • Auditing & Risk Management: Collaborates with internal team members and third-parties on audits and risk assessments. Examples include SOC Compliance Audit, 5500 Retirement Audit, NACHA Risk Assessment, etc.
  • SOC Compliance: Ensures organizational readiness and adherence to SOC audit and compliance requirements.
  • Maintaining Internal Documentation: Conducts research in order to create and maintain EmployShare’s state-specific Employee Handbook templates, Employment Agreement templates, reference materials for clients, and other proprietary documents.
  • ERISA & Retirement Plan Compliance: Oversee compliance for EmployShare’s multiple employer retirement plan, ensuring adherence to ERISA requirements and fiduciary standards.
  • Internal Training: Develops and delivers internal training programs to EmployShare Team members on relevant compliance topics.
