POSITION SUMMARY:

The Human Resource Officer supports the effective functioning of the HR department by administering human resource policies, practices, and procedures. The role involves managing employee relations, supporting recruitment and onboarding, overseeing compliance with labor regulations, and fostering a positive work environment. The HR Officer also plays a key role in conflict resolution, grievance handling, and proactive mitigation of workplace issues to maintain a productive and respectful workplace. The role will glean strategic HR insights and support organizational goals, particularly in areas of workforce planning, organizational development, and change management, from the Executive Director and Board of Directors Human Resources Committee.

KEY SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Strong knowledge of employee and labor relations practices
  • Understanding of conflict resolution strategies and grievance procedures
  • Knowledge of local labor laws and compliance requirements
  • Awareness and monitoring of the ethical, effective and secure use of artificial intelligence (AI)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Discretion, confidentiality, and strong ethical judgment
  • Problem-solving and negotiation skills
  • Attention to detail and organizational ability
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Familiarity with HR management systems such as BrightHR

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resource management, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, or related field
  • 2+ years of experience in an HR role with a focus on employee relations preferred
  • Certification in HR is advantageous
  • Experience handling disciplinary or grievance processes is desirable
