Description Status: Full-time, Non-exempt Department: Administration General Statement of Duties The HR Coordinator supports a people-centric workplace approach to team member management. The Coordinator assists the Human Resources Manager with talent acquisition and retention, team relations, team member training and development, professional development and performance management, and updating of Museum policies, systems, and procedures. This position recognizes the capacity to achieve greater results by leveraging volunteers’ diverse knowledge and abilities in every Museum department. The HR Coordinator reports directly to the Human Resources Manager. Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Museum Studies, Human Resources, or related field Strong communication and public speaking skills Understanding of best practices and experience in building inclusive and engaged workplaces Excellent interpersonal and communication skills Ability to work with a minimum of supervision; self-starter; excellent organizational ability/attention to detail; detail-oriented Able to manage multiple tasks and prioritize, think quickly and make ethical decisions Experience managing challenging situations, including directing others Ability to maintain confidentiality in dealing with personal and delicate issues Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, Canvas Instructure, and volunteer tracking systems such as Volgistics CPR and First Aid certified or willing to become at museum expense Duties and Responsibilities: Be a positive, enthusiastic representative of the Virginia Living Museum Support the comprehensive people and culture strategy that aligns with the Museum’s overall mission and goals Aid with recruitment effort for staff and volunteer positions, including placing ads, revising job descriptions, assisting with screening and interviewing candidates, reference checks Coordinate and train event leads to ensure volunteer success Assist with implementing initiatives and programs to enhance team member engagement, retention, growth, and advancement Manage volunteer and employee record keeping, database systems, and required reporting Assist with museum staff benefits including health and dental insurance, Life/ Short-term/ Long-term disability Assist with updating and maintaining museum policy manuals, forms, organizational charts, and employee directory Aid with ensuring Museum compliance with employment laws/regulations Special Committees and other duties as assigned Requirements Essential Job Requirements: Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends Must be able to hear and speak clearly Physical requirements include medium work, exerting up to 40 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects Must be able stand for extended periods of time and move about on foot to accomplish tasks Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, push, pull, lift, grasp, feel, and utilize repetitive motions. Must have close visual acuity to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data, transcribing, viewing a computer, and extensive reading
