DESCRIPTION

We are seeking an accomplished and forward-thinking HR Director to oversee our human resources functions. This role is integral to our long-term strategy and will be responsible for:

  • Creating and implementing innovative HR strategies that support our business objectives.
  • Bringing a customer-focused approach to the role to ensure that the HR function supports all aspects of the business in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Leading talent acquisition, fostering employee engagement, and ensuring robust performance management.
  • Assist with corporate communications initiatives.
  • Overseeing compensation, benefits, and compliance with all statutory and industry-specific regulations.
  • Driving organizational development and change initiatives to build a resilient and dynamic workforce.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (advanced degree preferred).
  • At least 7–10 years of HR leadership experience with a track record of driving impactful business results.
  • Strong understanding of the forest products or industrial sector is highly advantageous.
  • Safety experience is a benefit.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to implement modern HR practices that foster a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

What You Will Do

  • Strategic Leadership:
  • Formulate and execute sustainable HR strategies that drive business success.
  • Establish policies and programs that support recruitment, retention, training, and employee development.
  • People Management:
  • Direct all aspects of HR operations, including employee relations, safety, compensation planning, and benefits administration.
  • Labour Relations – contract interpretation, oversee the grievance process, and navigate all related interactions with the Union representing our employees, addressing concerns and fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to management, guiding decision making at the executive level.
  • Compliance & Safety:
  • Ensure all HR practices are in full compliance with BC labour laws and industry standards.
  • Oversee workplace safety initiatives and manage union or collective bargaining relationships as needed.
  • Data-Driven Insights:
  • Leverage HR metrics for reporting to senior leadership and continually optimize human capital strategies.
