A DAY IN THE LIFE

Montrose Environmental Group is seeking a strategic and people-focused Director of Human Resources to lead HR efforts across our $300MM US Environmental & Engineering Services, Advisory, and Response businesses. This role partners directly with two Senior Vice Presidents and one Vice President of Operations, providing strategic HR leadership and overseeing a team of Senior HR Business Partners and Talent Acquisition Partners nationwide.
As a key member of the HR leadership team, the Director will drive HR strategy, lead organizational development, and ensure we attract, retain, and engage top talent to support Montrose’s continued growth.
This position has a preferred location of Little Rock, Arkansas, but can be based remotely in the U.S. and will require a willingness to travel 25% of the time to visit with teams.
This role is expected to deliver:

Strategic HR Leadership

  • Partner with senior operations leaders to align HR strategy with business goals and support organizational growth.
  • Lead and develop a team of Senior HR Business Partners supporting field and corporate teams across the U.S.
  • Support a Talent Acquisition team to attract and hire best in class talent for our business
  • Influence workforce planning, culture initiatives, and organizational design for scale and performance.

Talent & Culture

  • Guide talent management strategies including performance, succession, and leadership development.
  • Support integration of acquired businesses through change management and cultural alignment.
  • Build and promote employee engagement strategies that align with Montrose’s values and principles.

HR Excellence

  • Oversee employee relations, compliance, and HR policy implementation in alignment with federal and state laws.
  • Collaborate with HR Operations to deliver a consistent employee experience.
  • Monitor and improve HR processes to drive consistency, efficiency, and strategic value.

YOUR EXPERTISE AND SKILLS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • 10+ years of progressive HR experience, with 3+ years in a leadership role.
  • Experience managing an HRBP team and supporting senior executive leaders.
  • Proven success in multi-site, high-growth environments.
  • Strong background in employee relations, organizational design, performance management, and change leadership.
  • Familiarity with employment law and compliance across multiple U.S. states.
  • Willingness to travel 25% as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or Master’s in HR-related discipline.
  • SHRM-SCP or SPHR certification.
  • Experience with Workday and post-acquisition integration.
