JOB OVERVIEW

Our client, a well-respected law firm in Toronto, is seeking a detail-oriented Human Resources Generalist for a 12-month contract. This role plays a key part in supporting all aspects of HR operations, with a strong focus on maintaining and managing data within the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) for all firm members.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Draft and manage documentation for all stages of the employee lifecycle.
  • Coordinate all aspects of new hire onboarding and employee departures.
  • Assist with annual performance and compensation reviews.
  • Provide guidance on HR policies, programs, and procedures.
  • Organize firm-wide events and engagement initiatives.
  • Prepare monthly HR metrics and ad hoc reporting as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date organizational charts.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements.
  • Administer service recognition programs.
  • Conduct research and gather data for ongoing projects and initiatives.
  • Oversee and maintain relationships with employee discount vendors.
  • Build strong internal partnerships across departments, acting as a trusted HR resource.
  • Partner with payroll on issue resolution, updates, and regular payroll audits.
  • Lead participation in annual compensation benchmarking surveys.
  • Collaborate closely with the HR team on firm-wide projects.
  • Support additional HR initiatives and provide administrative assistance as required.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Post-secondary education with a focus on Human Resources; HR certification preferred.
  • 3–5 years of HR experience in a professional services environment (legal experience considered an asset).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and operate independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; capable of building positive relationships at all levels.
  • Knowledge of employment legislation at both provincial and federal levels.
