Description FLSA Type: Non-Exempt, Full-Time Benefit Eligible Department: Human Resources Work Days/Hours: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm Reports to: Human Resources Director Pay Range: $31-$34 Pay Grade: 10 Work Modality: Primary work on-site with occasional remote work Job Summary As the Human Resources Generalist, you will assist with the day-to-day human resources functions and duties under the direction and support of the HR director. The HR Generalist will be responsible for the following assignments: worker's compensation, employee relations, compensation, new employee orientation, employee benefits and safety. This position offers the latitude to work with leadership and staff across the organization and is a great opportunity for an HR professional with future leadership aspirations. Essential Responsibilities Conducts carrier invoice reconciliation of employee benefits (medical, dental, vision, life insurance/AD & D and COBRA) Manages all aspects of leaves of absence from commencement to conclusion Assist HR Director with recruitment activities Processes all new hire pre-employment screening and onboarding; facilitates new employee orientation program; conducts exit interviews Issues and deactivates employee access badges Counsels, advises and provides guidance to CCBC management and staff within scope of knowledge Updates job descriptions as directed Conducts wage and benefit studies as directed Maintains compliance federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices, and assists the HR director in reviewing policies and practices to maintain compliance Manages all aspects of worker's compensation including, but not limited to, investigating injuries, collaborating with department leadership to address safety issues, coordinating medical network provider visits, maintaining the Worker's Compensation annual claims history, following claims from commencement to conclusion, maintain appropriate communication with the injured employee, employee's direct supervisor, HR Director, Worker's Compensation carrier, and other stakeholders as required Provides ergonomic assessments and recommendations to staff Serves as CCBC's Safety Officer: provides quarterly content and maintain tracking of safety tailgate meetings ensures SDS binders are current ensures safety-related SOPs are accurate and current. prepares, files and posts annual OSHA Form 300A oversees periodic department safety inspections are being conducted administers the annual required cGMP training Oversees CCBC's emergency communication system Maintains all electronic HR files, including personnel, leaves, terminations, etc. Demonstrates alignment with and adherence to the company’s core values in all interactions, decisions, and work activities; serves as a role model for fostering a positive, respectful, and ethical workplace culture Employees in this role are entitled and expected to take compliant meal and rest periods in accordance with California law. Requirements Qualifications and Skills Education/Licenses/Experience Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Management, Business, or Organizational Development, required SHRM-CP and/or HRCI certification, preferred A minimum of 2 years’ HR generalist experience, required Experience working with Paylocity, preferred Experience facilitating meetings of small to medium size groups, preferred Experience conducting employee orientation or short training sessions, preferred Experience serving in a safety capacity, preferred Must have a valid California driver’s license, and a clean driving history with no major violations in the last five years Skills Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, required Strong oral and written communication skills, required Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, required Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, required Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines, required Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality, required Thorough knowledge of California employment-related laws and regulations, required Physical Requirements Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally Ability to sit for extended periods (e.g., desk work, meetings) Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, using a mouse, and operating standard office equipment Occasional standing and walking Close vision for reading reports, screens, documents, spreadsheets, and emails Working Conditions Indoor, climate-controlled environment Low to moderate noise level The Central California Blood Center is proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action employer.
