Scope of the position:
The HR Generalist is responsible for providing HR support to our Mississauga Corporate office. This includes assisting in the development, coordination, facilitation, implementation and maintenance of Corporate and field HR initiatives. In additional, the HR Generalist provides back-up assistance and support to HR team and work with a national focus to ensure alignment and successful implementation of programs and processes.Key Activities

The key activities for this position will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Manage the employee lifecycle events for Corporate employees (new hires, transfers, changes, exit interviews, leaves of absence and terminations), advising payroll of changes and updating documents and procedures as required
  • Provide support, advice and guidance to managers on a broad spectrum of human resources related matters including but not limited to employee relations, performance management, employee engagement, benefits and absenteeism management
  • First point of contact for employees and people managers with regards to HR policies, disability management, benefits, leaves of absence, procedures/programs and Fusion HCM inquiries.
  • Conduct an engaging on-boarding orientation session, ensuring all orientation paperwork has been completed and received for compliance/audits, providing Health & Safety training and updating documents and procedures as required
  • Run monthly reports and provide ad hoc reports as required
  • Draft various correspondences and letters
  • Manage the summer student program under the general direction of Director, HR Operations
  • Manage change assessments, lawyer requests and prepare materials for internal audits
  • Track Corporate employees on work permits, ensuring their documents are current and managers are informed of expiry dates
  • Manage and execute various Corporate and National HR programs. These programs include, but not limited to:
  • Annual Corporate Support Survey and provide analysis to departmental leaders for developing action plans to meet organizational goals and business initiatives
  • Streamline processes and increase administrative efficiencies
  • Maintain employee files for Corporate employees (new hires, transfers, changes, departures)
  • Conduct Maternity/Parental leave meeting with employee regarding process
  • Generate top 3 ideas / biggest improvement report from the feedback received during the annual performance review process
  • Performance management program - tracking year end reviews for completion
  • Support miscellaneous Labour Relations assignments as required
  • Maintenance of all People policies, including updates to naming conventions and format changes
  • Coordinate, organize and schedule the review of People policies as per requirements
  • Maintain the People SharePoint site
  • Support Employee Recognition programs including administration of the annual Long Service Awards program, Employee Engagement survey, and Employee Appreciation events
  • Act as a key member of the planning committee for Chartwell’s annual conferences
  • Draft and distribute company-wide communications relating to Corporate and National HR Programs

EXPERIENCE:

  • 3 - 4 years of HR Generalist experience

EDUCATION:

  • Post-secondary certificate or diploma in Business or Human Resources
  • CHRP designation is an asset

  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and e-mail required
