EveryMind Mental Health Services is looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic Human Resources Professional on a contractual role with an interest in the non-profit health sector to join our team.
EveryMind is an accredited children and youth mental health centre that provides a continuum of high-quality mental health services to enrich the lives of children, youth and their families who are experiencing social, emotional and/or behavioural challenges. Our services are provided in a dynamic, client-centred environment that values respect and inclusion, collaboration, learning, innovation and accountability.
The People and Culture department activities supports the development of the organization’s reputation and position, to internal and external stakeholders, as leaders in the delivery of quality services supported by sound management practices.
Under the guidance of the Supervisor, People & Culture, the HR Generalist is responsible for the day-to-day HR department operations including in the core areas of HR Administration, Recruitment, Selection & On-Boarding, Training and Development, Payroll, Benefits and Compensation, Health and Safety and Employee Relations, wellness and engagement.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • University Degree in Human Resources or Labour Relations or a related field.
  • Completion of a post-graduate program in Human Resources Management.
  • CHRP designation or in progress.
  • A minimum of four (4) years directly related experience in a full cycle Human Resources department.
  • Experience in HR in a non-profit or healthcare setting is an asset.
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of Ontario Employment Legislation, regulations and guidelines, Occupational Health & Safety Act and the Ontario Human Rights Code.
  • Strong work ethic with sensitivity to diversity and equity issues in the workplace and an understanding of cultural competence.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to establish rapport quickly and gain the respect and trust of others.
  • Detail oriented with an ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-moving healthcare environment.
  • Flexible and adaptive with a strong sense of judgment and tact and a proven service orientation.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Occupational Health & Safety Certification.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with MS Office Suite, HRIS systems like ADP, HR apps.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • A Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Police Check and Pre-Employment Medical screening (including TB test, MMR, TD, Polio, Covid-19 Vaccination), is required.

Responsibilities
  • Develops and implements innovative strategies to attract and recruit staff to the organization, prepares job postings, supports hiring managers with coordination of interviews and hiring, providing coaching and feedback to supervisors regarding best practices, and identifies areas for continuous improvement.
  • Prepares all written offers of employment, develops and co-ordinates HR orientation sessions for new employees and onboarding
  • Tracks and maintains records of staff participation in clinical and other mandatory training.
  • Prepares employment related correspondence and communicates with staff regarding internal offers, moves, transfers, etc.
  • Implements approved changes in HRIS to flow through to payroll; ensures reconciliation of HR changes to payroll and benefits reports.
  • Coordinates enrollments for employee benefits and pension programs and supports employee leaves.
  • Maintains the human resources database and HR files, and is responsible for the accurate data entry of all pertinent information and the generation of reports as needed.
  • Supports health and safety initiatives including workplace inspections.
  • Ensures employees are well supported in the implementation of positive employee relations practices by providing advice and guidance to management and staff on staffing and employee relations issues.
  • Coordinates and plans staff rewards and recognition programs and engagement events.
  • Undertakes Human Resources projects in response to organizational strategy, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) initiatives, legislative changes, management initiatives, service changes, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.
