JOB SUMMARY

The HR Generalist performs human resources-related duties and may carry out responsibilities in some or all of the following functional areas: onboarding, training, employment, labor relations, affirmative action, finance, payroll and employment equity programs. Assists in the implementation of people-related services, policies, and programs; and advises hospital employees and management about Human Resources issues.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree in related field from an accredited educational institution.
• Experience in employment law, compensation, organizational planning, organizational development, safety, training, or healthcare employment policies.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

• Master’s degree in a related field from an accredited educational institution.
• HR experience within Healthcare
• SHRM or PHR certification.

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES

• Advanced knowledge and understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite and other applicable software and systems.
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with coworkers, managers, supervisors and administration.
• Selecting and using training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation when learning or teaching new things.
• Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made and asking questions as appropriate.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Perceive the nature of sounds by the ear, express or exchange ideas by means of spoken word, perceive characteristics of objects through the eyes, extend arms and hands in any direction, seize, hold, grasp, turn, or otherwise work with hands, pick, pinch, or otherwise work with fingers, perceive such attributes of objects or materials as size, shape, temperature, or texture; and stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. Must be able to lift 25 pounds maximum with frequent lifting, carrying pushing, and pulling of objects weighing up to 10 pounds. Continuous walking and standing. Must be able to identify, match, and distinguish colors

• Leads onboarding processes and initiatives.
• Provides benefit orientation and program assistance and training as needed by the department.
• Assists in the development of programs, procedures, and guidelines to help align the workforce with the strategic goals of the hospital.
• Participates in executive, management, and organizational staff meetings and attends other meetings and seminars as directed and in the absence of the HR Director.
• Oversees FMLA and assist as needed workman’s compensation and tracking/updating of professional licensures.
• Responsible for the Affordable Care Act reporting and tracking.
• Prepares periodic reports for Administration, as necessary or requested.
• Assists in the creation and maintenance of policies and objectives for the organization on any topic associated with employee relations and employee rights.
• Assists the HR Director with attorneys, training specialists, insurance brokers, insurance carriers, pension administrators, and other outside sources.
• Continuing study of all Human Resources policies, programs, and practices to assist the HR Director to stay informed of new developments.
• Helps to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee morale and motivation.
• Assists with storage and retention of the progressive discipline system and employee records of the hospital.
• Assists in identifying organizational compliance with all existing governmental and labor legal reporting requirements, including Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), the Department of Labor (DOL), worker’s compensation, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and so forth.
• Protects the interests of employees and the organizational in accordance with Human Resources policies, governmental laws and regulations. Minimizes risk.
• Oversees New Hire Orientation and Tuition Reimbursement programs.
• Assists with employee recognition and departmental orientation as directed.
• Keeps the Human Resources Director informed of significant problems that jeopardize the achievement of hospital processes and goals.
• Assists with quality assurance, process improvement, and other projects as needed.
• Actively engage in quality improvement activities.
• Assumes other responsibilities as assigned by the Human Resources Director.
