HR Specialist Job Description HR Specialist We are seeking a detail-oriented and people-focused HR specialist to support core human resources functions, with a strong emphasis on recruiting, pre-employment and onboarding, compliance, and payroll preparation. This role is ideal for someone who is interested in learning more about Human Resources and growing and developing in the role. Key Responsibilities Recruiting & Hiring Support * Assist with end-to-end recruiting processes, including job postings, resume screening, interview scheduling, and candidate communication * Coordinate background checks, reference checks, and pre-employment requirements * Maintain applicant tracking systems and recruiting documentation Pre-Employment & Onboarding * Prepare and process new hire paperwork and employment records * Coordinate onboarding schedules, orientations, and first-day logistics * Ensure all new hires meet pre-employment and eligibility requirements HR Compliance * Maintain accurate and confidential employee files (digital and/or paper) * Support compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws (I-9s, E-Verify, wage and hour, etc.) * Assist with audits, reporting, and policy acknowledgments Payroll Preparation * Collect, review, and verify timesheets and attendance records * Prepare payroll data for processing and resolve discrepancies * Support payroll-related inquiries and documentation General HR Support * Respond to employee questions regarding HR processes and policies * Assist with benefits administration and open enrollment support * Provide administrative support to the HR team as needed Qualifications * Bilingual in Spanish * 1–3 years of experience in HR, recruiting, or administrative support (HR-focused preferred) * Knowledge of basic HR compliance and employment practices * Experience supporting payroll preparation or timekeeping systems is a plus * Strong organizational skills and attention to detail * Ability to handle confidential information with discretion What We’re Looking For * A proactive, organized self-starter * Strong communicator with a service-oriented mindset * Comfortable juggling multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment * Someone who genuinely enjoys supporting employees and HR operations Humanitary Medical Center Inc. complies with all federal, state, and local laws prohibiting employment discrimination of any kind.
