HUMAN RESOURCES GENERALIST

Maple Reinders Group is an established, award-winning Design/Build Construction Company and one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies. Headquartered in Mississauga, ON, with six offices across Canada. We continue to grow and are excited to expand our HR team!
Maple is currently seeking a Human Resources Generalist to join our HR Department on a full-time, permanent basis. This role plays a key part in supporting and enhancing our HR programs, policies, and processes in alignment with our organizational strategies and priorities. The successful candidate will help position Maple Reinders as an employer of choice by supporting a wide range of HR functions and initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • University degree or college diploma in Human Resources Management or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • CHRP designation would be an asset.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Human Resources, preferably in a construction or similar industry.
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation, including Employment Standards, Human Rights, Workers Compensation, and Health & Safety.
  • Experience with HRIS systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with employees and support managers in day-to-day HR matters.
  • Act as a key point of contact for employee and labour relations, providing guidance and support in resolving workplace issues, including concerns, grievances, and conflict resolution, and escalating complex matters as needed.
  • Provide guidance and support to employees in resolving workplace issues.
  • Lead the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
  • As required, conduct workplace investigations into complaints (ie: harassment, code of conduct violations, etc.)
  • Conduct exit interviews and turn insights into practical recommendations that drive continuous improvements in workplace culture and operations. Process salary and wage adjustments and ensure proper authorization.
  • Process employee promotions, including documentation and communication.
  • Offer guidance to managers and supervisors on handling employee issues like performance management, discipline, policy inquiries, harassment or discrimination concerns, HR compliance, and more. Collaborate with Training & Development to drive effective employee development and performance management programs that support organizational goals.
  • Maintain and update employee records in the HRIS system.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on special HR projects.
  • Liaise with the Health & Safety department to ensure alignment on workplace safety initiatives.
  • Coordinate work-related accident claims and return-to-work programs in partnership with the Health & Safety Team .Oversee non-work-related injury/disability cases and return-to-work planning.
