Position Summary: The HR Generalist provides Human Resources support and services in the following functional areas: benefits administration, employee relations, performance management, onboarding, policy implementation and interpretation, affirmative action, and employment law compliance. This role works independently and as member of the HR team, will serve as an important liaison and partner to leaders, providing HR guidance and risk mitigation. Primary responsibilities: 1. New Hire Onboarding & Documentation Manage new hire paperwork and ensure timely submission. Set up secure employee files and assist with orientation. Share benefits info and track eligibility deadlines. Follow up on missing documents to complete employee records. 2. Employee Records & HR Reporting Maintain organized personnel files and process employee changes (e.g., promotions, pay updates). Track leave of absence (LOA) records and training compliance. Handle employee exits, including interviews and equipment return. Generate HR reports using internal systems. 3. Leave & Workers’ Compensation Support Submit injury reports and manage related documentation. Liaise with insurance reps and assist with case management. Support LOA, disability, and life claims processing. 4. Timekeeping & Payroll Assistance Train staff on timekeeping systems. Review payroll data for accuracy. Ensure proper coding for leave and time off. 5. Employee Relations & Policy Guidance Serve as first contact for employee concerns. Advise leaders on policies, performance management, and corrective actions. Understand and apply relevant employment laws and union contracts. 6. Employee Engagement Support initiatives to recognize, engage, and retain staff. 7. Meetings & Training Attend required staff meetings and training sessions. Requirements Required Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in human resources or related field. Minimum of 3+ years’ general HR experience required. Valid driver’s license required. Must meet state regulating agency and Home Office driving requirements. Nice to have: Minimum of 5+ years direct HR experience.
