Payroll will be led and completed by the HR Generalist weekly. This role requires a reliable vehicle and the ability to travel to other locations within up to one hour of Portland, as needed, approximately 3–4 times per month. Essential Functions Process payroll and complete other payroll functions including answering employee questions, fixing processing errors, running reports within the HRIS, and reconciling totals for the accounting department. Maintain accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation. Answer frequently asked questions from applicants and employees about payroll, policies, LOA procedures, benefits, etc. Recruit and onboard new employees for various positions throughout 11 Maine locations. Enroll new employees in benefits and answer questions. Create and print a quarterly company newsletter. Update virtual communication boards frequently. Perform periodic audits of HR files and records to ensure that all required documents are collected and filed appropriately. Planning and execution of special events such as annual benefits enrollment, organization-wide meetings, employee recognition events, and retirement celebrations. Travel to other Maine NEPW locations as needed, 3-4 times monthly. Performs other HR related duties as assigned by the HR manager. Education/Experience 2 or more years of general Human Resources experience required Experience with any Payroll/HRIS (Paylocity, ADP, etc.) required SHRM-CP or PHR preferred
