REQUIREMENTS FOR HUMAN RESOURCES GENERALIST:

  • Possess good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to manage time effectively, and work with competing priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, facilitate, and resolve conflict
  • Must be able to handle confidential information in an ethical and professional manner
  • Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direct supervision
  • Knowledgeable of the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act and Regulations, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Human Rights Code, and the Employment Standards Act
  • Post-Secondary education in Human Resources and/or previous related experience
  • CHRP or CHRL designation is an asset
  • Strong knowledge of HR legislation, principles and best practices
  • 3-5 years recent and relevant experience in Human Resources
  • 2-5 years of previous payroll experience
Responsibilities
  • Support and assist the management team in areas that involve recruitment, employee performance, progressive discipline, terminations and training and development
  • Prepare and execute payroll for all divisions using ADP software.
  • Provide interpretation and advice to the management team on applicable legislation, policies and procedures
  • Responsible for ensuring that all aspects of the payroll cycle are processed in a timely and accurate manner
  • Responsible for managing enrollments, determining employee eligibility, and answering all inquiries pertaining to group benefits, the employee assistance program (EAP) and the group retirement savings program
  • Management of WSIB and short term/long term disability claims, including the return-to-work process for both work-related and non-work-related injuries and illnesses
  • Collaborate with managers/supervisors to assess employment needs, and participate in recruiting efforts to identify, interview, and hire qualified candidates
  • Ensure organizational legal compliance with regulations and applicable employment laws, and update policies and/or procedures as required
  • Maintain employee-related databases, and prepares applicable reports for management as necessary or when requested
