QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred; equivalent HR experience in construction or a related industry will be considered.
  • 5–8 years of HR experience, preferably within construction, manufacturing, or other field-based workforce industries.
  • Knowledge of employment law, HR best practices, and labor regulations (multi-state experience preferred).
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and timekeeping/payroll platforms.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, field-oriented environment.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Strong understanding of laws and regulations to help the company stay in compliance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

The Human Resources Generalist will provide day-to-day support across all HR functions and the employee life cycle, ensuring compliance with employment laws and company policies while fostering a positive and productive workplace. This role partners with operations leaders and field supervisors to support a diverse construction workforce, focusing on employee relations, compliance, talent management, and HR best practices.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as a primary HR contact for employees and supervisors regarding policies, procedures, and workplace issues.
  • Address and resolve employee concerns in a fair and consistent manner.
  • Promote positive employee engagement and retention.
  • Works closely with regional leadership and makes site visits on a regular basis.
  • Support recruitment efforts, including posting jobs, screening candidates, and coordinating interviews.
  • Facilitate new-hire onboarding and orientation to ensure smooth integration into the company. Lead and coordinate regional onboarding (30,60,90 reviews).
  • Maintain accurate job descriptions and participate in workforce planning discussions.
  • Leads regional DOT onboarding compliance and maintenance with support for corporate office.
  • Attends job fairs and hiring events. Build employee pipelines by engaging in various community organizations.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including prevailing wage, EEO, and wage/hour regulations.
  • Maintain employee records and HRIS data in compliance with company and legal requirements.
  • Assists with the administration of employee benefits, which may include collecting and submitting employee information and notice of change in status to health, dental, life, disability, and other insurance carriers or insurance brokers.
  • Plans and supports company-wide information meetings such as open enrollment, new hire orientation, and meetings to announce or discuss changes in retirement or benefits plans.
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and communicating HR policies and procedures.
  • Assist supervisors in administering performance evaluations and development plans.
  • Provide guidance on coaching, discipline, and corrective action.
  • Support payroll and timekeeping processes in coordination with HR and payroll teams.
