POSITION SUMMARY

The Human Resources (HR) Generalist is responsible for providing professional HR support to both the Waterloo Region Nurse Practitioner Led Clinic (WRNPLC) and Woolwich Community Health Centre (WCHC). Working closely with senior leaders, the HR Generalist ensures consistent application of HR policies, procedures, and best practices, while maintaining compliance with relevant legislation. The role focuses on recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, training coordination, and HR administration, with an emphasis on creating a respectful, inclusive, and supportive workplace.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma or degree in Human Resources Management or related field.
  • CHRP designation or eligibility preferred; CHRL designation considered an asset.
  • 3–5 years of HR experience, ideally in healthcare or non-profit settings.
  • Strong working knowledge of Ontario employment legislation.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with discretion.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel between sites.

Responsibilities

ROLE SPLIT

This position is equally shared between the WRNPLC and WCHC:

  • The HR Generalist will spend 50% of their time supporting the WRNPLC and 50% supporting the WCHC, with the regular schedule to be determined in collaboration with the ED and CEO
  • Time allocation may flex in response to operational priorities (e.g., recruitment surges, investigations, policy updates).
  • Workload will be coordinated between both organizations to ensure balance and clarity of priorities.
  • The HR Manager will maintain open communication with both senior leaders to align timelines and deliverables.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Recruitment and Staffing
  • Support the development of job postings and interview materials.
  • Coordinate full-cycle recruitment, including posting jobs, screening applicants, scheduling interviews, and conducting reference checks.
  • Facilitate onboarding and orientation for new employees at both organizations.
  • HR Administration
  • Support the maintenance of accurate and confidential employee records in accordance with legislation.
  • Prepare employment letters, contracts, and other HR documentation.
  • Employee Relations Support
  • Provide advice to senior leaders and staff on HR policies, procedures, and processes.
  • Assist with the resolution of workplace concerns in collaboration with senior leaders.
  • Support workplace investigations as required.
  • Policy and Compliance
  • Ensure consistent application of HR policies and procedures across both organizations.
  • Monitor compliance with employment legislation, human rights, and occupational health and safety requirements.
  • Maintain and update employee handbooks as directed by senior leaders.
  • Training and Development Coordination
  • Track mandatory training and certifications for all employees.
  • Support coordination of training opportunities and logistics as identified by senior leaders.
  • Maintain training records and provide status reports as requested.
  • Compensation and Benefits Administration
  • Administer employee benefits, including enrollments, changes, and terminations.
  • Support annual salary review processes as directed.
  • Liaise with benefits providers to resolve employee inquiries.
  • Health, Safety, and Wellness Support
  • Provide administrative support to the Joint Health & Safety Committees at both sites.
  • Track workplace incidents and support return-to-work processes.
  • Assist with wellness program coordination.
