Description
As a Human Resource Governance Student, you will support the Human Resources Governance team in ensuring compliance with legislation, corporate policies, and regulatory requirements. You’ll gain hands-on experience in policy development, data analysis, and program support while contributing to initiatives that strengthen Irving Oil’s HR practices and employee experience. The HR Governance team, based at our Home Office, plays a critical role in maintaining compliance across the organization. They provide guidance on HR policies, monitor adherence to labor laws, and support programs that promote a safe and inclusive workplace. The team collaborates with HR business partners, legal, and other departments to ensure governance alignment and to enhance the company’s overall HR framework. Responsibilities: Conduct data analytics and prepare reports on HR governance metrics and program performance Assist in reviewing, updating, and documenting HR policies, procedures, and compliance programs Support HR initiatives such as the employee handbook, workplace violence and harassment program, and annual compliance programs Contribute to process improvement projects, including SharePoint updates and parking administration Collaborate with HR business partners and legal teams to ensure governance alignment and provide guidance on policy interpretation Maintain accurate records of governance activities, policy changes, and compliance documentation Your Skills: Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and prepare clear reports Excellent written and verbal communication skills for policy documentation and stakeholder engagement Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams Inquisitive mindset with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint Your Experience: Currently pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Law, or a related field Must have completed at least one year of post-secondary education and be returning to school Interest in conducting research and policy development is considered an asset What We Offer: Professional Development – Student focused learning & development sessions, mentorships and networking events Student Benefits – Housing allowance, co-op fee reimbursement and parking allowance for qualifying candidates.
