QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources
  • Professional HR certification (e.g., CHRP) is an asset.
  • Minimum of 2 years of HR experience, preferably in social services, healthcare, or mental health sectors.
  • Proven experience in recruitment, employee relations, and performance management.
  • Knowledge of labor laws and human resources best practices.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in HR software and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to upholding and fostering an inclusive and collaborative culture.

Responsibilities
  • Recruitment and Onboarding: Manage recruitment efforts to attract high-caliber candidates for a variety of roles, from screening to onboarding. Coordinate new hire orientations to ensure a seamless introduction to our team and culture.
  • Employee Relations: Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries and concerns with the ESA or the union. Act as a mediator and promote an inclusive work environment.
  • Policy Development and Compliance: Ensure compliance with all labor laws and maintain updated employee policies. Work with management to create or update HR policies that align with the organizational mission and goals.
  • Training and Development: Identify training needs and coordinate professional development opportunities for staff, including mandatory certifications and therapeutic skills that support the intensive residential Mental health model.
  • Health, Safety, and Wellness: Support the implementation of health and safety protocols, including emergency procedures. Promote wellness programs to support staff well-being and resilience in a high-stress work environment.
  • Data and Reporting: Maintain HR databases and provide regular reports on HR metrics to support organizational planning. Track staff certifications, training completions, and overall compliance.
  • Scheduling: Oversee staff scheduling to ensure proper coverage for all shifts, including day, evening, and weekend shifts as needed. Collaborate with supervisors and management to address staffing requirements and ensure that schedules support both staff well-being and youth needs.
  • Payroll Administration: Process payroll accurately and on time for all employees, including tracking hours, managing overtime, and ensuring compliance with labor laws. Work closely with the accountant to handle payroll reporting, adjustments, and other payroll-related tasks.
  • Disability Management: Work with employees to deal with WSIB related issues and non-work related medical issues.
