JOB SUMMARY:

The Human Resources Leave and Training Administrator is responsible for the administration of Hawai‘i Pacific University’s leave policies, employee benefits, learning management system and wellness initiatives. As a Human Resources subject matter expert, the Administrator is a key member of a Human Resources team that strives to develop, practice, and promote a culture of customer service, continuous improvement, and best practices.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel including PivotTables, VLOOKUP, conditional & nested formulas.
  • Experience working in higher education
  • Multi-state HR administration
  • Human Resources Certification (PHR/SPHR/SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP)
  • Strong customer service focus and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees verbally and in writing.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Visa sponsorship and relocation allowance is not available for this position.
  • Report to work obligations to support the department and may require work during HPU’s winter break, if necessary.
  • This position may be considered an essential position with report to work obligations depending on the type of emergency, campus closure, or evacuation. [as applicable]
  • Must meet training and background check qualifications and comply with the Protection of Minors policy.
  • Able to work all shifts and extended hours.
  • Successful candidate will be able to work in an environment that utilize excellent time and stress management skills.
Responsibilities
  1. Leave of Absences, Disability Coordination, and Workers’ Compensation (30%)
  • Maintain current knowledge of emerging issues pertaining to FMLA, HFLL, ADA and other related laws and regulations, communicating same to employees and administration as appropriate.
  • Ensure all leave of absences (including FMLA and HFLL), requests for accommodation, and workers’ compensation claims are handled in compliance with state and federal law.
  • Determine eligibility by reviewing medical and/or other documentation. Consults with HR Directors as necessary.
  • Ensure employee completes leave documentation, submit to appropriate parties, record payroll information to ensure payments are accurately calculated, maintain communication with employees and managers to update leave status.
  • Oversee ADA interactive process for employees, counseling supervisors and managers regarding reasonable accommodations.
  • Develop and update leave policies and procedures based on changes in administrative process and legal updates.
  1. Learning and Development Administration (20%)
  • Co-manages content for Mana`o (Cornerstone LMS), HPU’s learning and performance management system.
  • Monitor training programs, troubleshoot access errors, track completion and follow up on outstanding training.
  • Measure results of training and consolidate data to report on effectiveness.
  1. Audit, Reconciliation, Reporting (20%)
  • Utilize tools to automate consolidation of information, apply logic to cross reference information and error detection.
  • Assist the Associate Director, Compensation and Benefit in creating reports to capture data with minimal manipulation and data entry.
  • Audit reports for accuracy and report results as needed.
  1. Administration of the University’s Health and Welfare Plans (15%)
  • Responsible for effectively communicating benefit programs details and the value of benefit offerings.
  • Maintain working knowledge of benefit administration processes and tasks.
  • Support operations in Benefit & Leave Coordinator absence.
  • Work with Associate Director, Benefit and Compensation to maintain a competitive, comprehensive benefits package.
  1. Wellness (10%)
  • In coordination with the Wellness Advisory Committee, develop and manage a wellness program for HPU faculty and staff, to include both physical and mental well-being components.
  1. Performs other related duties as assigned (5%)
  • Actively participates as an effective member of the team by completing assigned duties, accepting additional assignments or reassignments.Take initiative and identify opportunities and inefficiencies and propose solutions.
