POSITION SUMMARY:

The Human Resources Manager plays a key leadership role in shaping and executing human resources strategies that support the organization’s mission, values, and commitment to equity and inclusion. Reporting to the Director, People & Culture, the Human Resources Manager oversees core HR functions including employee relations, talent acquisition, workforce planning, performance management, and policy development. This role is responsible for guiding and advising leaders across the organization on best practices in people management, while ensuring compliance with employment legislation, collective agreements, and organizational policies. With a strategic and collaborative mindset, the HR Manager leads initiatives to foster a positive, inclusive, and high-performing workplace culture. The Manager also plays a critical role in embedding IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Anti-Racism) principles into all HR practices and processes. They will support change management efforts, lead continuous improvement in HR operations, and ensure a consistent and equitable employee experience across the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (post-graduate diploma in Human Resources is an asset).
  • CHRP designation or active pursuit preferred; CHRL considered an asset.
  • Five years of progressive HR experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership or advisory capacity.
  • Demonstrated experience in a unionized and/or not-for-profit environment is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of employment legislation, human rights, and labour relations.
  • Experience managing or overseeing full-cycle recruitment, onboarding, and workforce planning.
  • Proven ability to provide guidance on employee relations, performance management, and conflict resolution.
  • Familiarity with collective agreements and their impact on HR practices.
  • Demonstrated commitment to IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Anti-Racism) and experience applying these principles in the workplace.
  • Strong leadership and coaching skills, with the ability to influence and support managers at all levels.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience using HR metrics to inform decisions.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems, applicant tracking systems (ATS), and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Commitment to confidentiality, integrity, and professional ethics.
  • Required to provide a satisfactory Criminal Reference Check (CRC) and Vulnerable Sector Check prior to hire.
