Description We are seeking a strategic and experienced Human Resources leader to oversee the full scope of HR operations across a multi-state fuel distribution and transportation organization. This role is responsible for leading the HR function, ensuring compliance with applicable employment and transportation-related regulations, and supporting a distributed workforce across multiple operational locations. The position reports directly to the President/CEO. Key Responsibilities • Lead and oversee all human resources operations across multiple states and business units • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including wage and hour, leave administration, and workplace posting requirements • Oversee HR compliance related to DOT/FMCSA regulations, including driver qualification files and applicable safety-related employment requirements • Direct employee relations strategy, including investigations, conflict resolution, and corrective action guidance • Partner with executive leadership on workforce planning, organizational design, and talent strategy • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, retention, and separation processes across field and corporate roles • Manage benefits administration, including health plans, leave programs, and 401(k) compliance and reporting • Oversee workers’ compensation, unemployment claims, and related risk management processes • Ensure compliance with required regulatory reporting (EEO-1, OSHA, and other applicable federal/state filings) • Develop, implement, and maintain employee handbooks, policies, and job classifications across jurisdictions • Oversee HRIS systems, data integrity, and HR reporting/analytics • Lead HR team members and provide coaching, development, and performance management • Serve as a key advisor to leadership on employment risk, compliance exposure, and workforce matters • Perform other related Human Resources and operational support duties as assigned Benefits • Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance. • Company paid life insurance and short-term disability. • 401(k) retirement savings plan. • Paid time off (PTO) and six paid holidays. Additional Information • Full-time, onsite position • Role supports distributed operations across multiple states and field locations Requirements • 7–10 plus years of progressive HR leadership experience, including multi-state responsibility • 5 plus years in a supervisory or HR management/department leadership role • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field • Professional HR certification preferred (SHRM-CP/SCP, PHR/SPHR) • Demonstrated experience in multi-state employment law compliance • Experience supporting transportation, logistics, manufacturing, petroleum distribution, or other highly regulated industries preferred • Knowledge of DOT/FMCSA compliance requirements preferred • Experience managing employee relations, investigations, and workforce risk issues • Demonstrated ability to lead HR operations, manage competing priorities, communicate effectively with employees and leadership, and support operational and compliance-related business objectives. • Proficiency with HRIS systems; Paylocity experience a plus • Demonstrated ability to analyze HR and operational issues, evaluate risk, and support practical business solutions. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and reporting tools • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, operational environment
