EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

Must have:

  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience as a human resource generalist
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment, required
  • A bachelor’s degree, preferably in human resources; or the equivalence combination of education and experience
  • PHR or SHRM-CP, preferred
  • Demonstrated experience with developing training programs and compensation programs
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel and HRIS systems
  • Good conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Familiarity with Paylocity, a plus
  • Friendly and approachable demeanor
  • Ability to form and maintain professional relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Basic mathematical abilities
  • Highly confidential and discreet

Responsibilities
  • Develop, recommend, and implement personnel policies and procedures compliant with all employment laws; update policies and procedures as needed.
  • Advise and guide leadership on employee relations matters of varying complexity; consult with legal counsel as appropriate, and/or as directed by the President.
  • Execute recruitment efforts for exempt, non-exempt and temporary employees such as but not limited to, posting job ads, reviewing resumes, scheduling interviews, conducting initial interviews, completing pre-employment screenings; and engaging outside agencies when appropriate to fill open roles.
  • Conduct new employee orientation sessions, assist with outplacement counseling, and conduct exit interviews.
  • Oversee the company’s benefits administration which includes 401(k) administration, scheduling and assisting with open enrollment meetings, claims resolution, change reporting, approving invoices for payment, adding/terminating/updating employee records, assisting employees, completing annual and other required reports and censuses, and performing an annual re-evaluation of benefit offerings in collaboration with benefit brokers to ensure the company is offering competitive benefits that are cost effective.
  • Process weekly payroll; update employee records; approve employee-initiated changes; run reports as needed and maintain accuracy of data within system.
  • Establish and maintain Human Resource records and reports.
  • Coordinate workers’ compensation claims with insurance company and medical providers.
  • Support the Safety Manager with safety program, remain a member of Safety Committee; coordinate annual training of safety committee for state certification as well as required annual training for production employees, maintains OSHA logs and summaries.
  • Assist Department Managers in identifying and providing training opportunities for employees; prepare training plan for state-funded grants; administer grants when received to assure employees and company adhere to rules to ensure reimbursement.
  • Maintain a positive company culture by administering company service award program, coordinating delivery of anniversary gifts, and planning, organizing and participating in employee events.
  • Coordinate and participate in community events to foster relationships with schools and other agencies in support of workforce development initiatives.
  • Participate in staff meetings.
  • Performs all other special projects and assignments as assigned by the President.
