About the job

HR Manager Gravity Group · Wexford Town, Co. Wexford · Full-time, permanent On-site €55,000 – €68,000 per year depending on experience

Help build the team that's taking asbestos off Ireland's roofs.

About Gravity

We're Ireland's leading asbestos removal contractor, and we are growing to become one of Irelands leading commercial roofing contractors too.

There is still a very large amount of asbestos sitting on roofs across this country - on factories, warehouses, schools and homes. It was put there decades ago and it has to come off. That's the work we do. We take it off safely, we replace the roof properly, and the building is better and safer than it was before.

Our work matters to the people who own those buildings and it matters to the people who work and live under those roofs every day. And there's a lot of it left to do.

The opportunity

We're entering a substantial phase of growth. We know what that depends on, and it isn't equipment or work on the books.

It's great people.

So we're looking for a committed, passionate HR professional to help us build that team, and to support the passionate team we already have.

There's no HR function here yet. You'll build it. You'll report directly to the Managing Director, you'll have a real say in how this company grows and who it grows with, and you'll see the results of your work on site every week.

If you want to look back in five years at a business you helped shape rather than a function you helped maintain, this is that role.

How we treat our people

We take our teams seriously. Our crews are properly trained, properly equipped and properly looked after, on site and off it. We invest in tickets and certifications, we promote from within, and we back our foremen. When our lads are away from home on a job, that's our responsibility to get right, not theirs. It's the standard we've set, and we want someone who'll raise it further.

What you'll own:Recruitment. Direct hiring across the whole company - asbestos operatives, roofers, supervisors and foremen as well as office and professional staff. Building a pipeline before the vacancy exists, running a referral scheme, and reducing our reliance on agencies.

Onboarding. Everything from offer and contract through to day one - payroll setup, equipment, IT access, induction and the first ninety days. Nobody starts without being properly set up.

Training and competency. Owning the training matrix, tracking certifications and renewals, managing statutory medical surveillance, and building the progression path from operative to foreman.

Performance and employee relations. Appraisals, probation, performance conversations, and handling disciplinary and grievance matters properly and consistently.

HR operations. Contracts, policies, employment law compliance, absence and leave, and accurate people records.

What we're looking for

  • HR generalist experience across the full remit, not one part of it
  • A track record of recruiting directly - sourcing and hiring, not managing agencies
  • Experience hiring hourly-paid and trades staff as well as office roles. Construction, plant hire, manufacturing, logistics or facilities all transfer well
  • Solid working knowledge of Irish employment law, and the confidence to say when something isn't right
  • Credible with site teams and with directors, and able to move between the two in the same day
  • Organised with records, dates and expiries — certification tracking is unforgiving
  • Full driving licence and willing to be on site regularly. This isn't a desk-only role
  • CIPD qualified or working towards it is an advantage, not a requirement

What we offer

  • €55,000 – €68,000 depending on experience
  • A genuine build role with autonomy and a direct line to the Managing Director
  • Huge scope for personal and professional development
  • The scope to set the standard rather than inherit someone else's
  • A growing Irish business doing work that needs doing, and doing it properly
