Job Overview

Reporting to the Director, Human Resources, the Manager, HR is responsible for ensuring strategic, effective, consistent and legal human resources practices and policies throughout the Haisla Nation Council. This includes leading and managing various HR projects, driving process improvements, organizational development efforts, and data-driven decision-making. The position plays a critical role in creating an employee-oriented, high-performance culture while ensuring legal compliance and adherence to HR best practices.

The Manager, HR is responsible for the leadership, management, and supervision of the HR Coordinators, Payroll & Benefits Coordinator, and Senior HR Coordinators.

Duties & Responsibilities

HR Operations & Project Management:

  • Provide advice and represent the Haisla Nation in complex and sensitive matters regarding labour relations, human rights, accommodation, workplace investigations, settlement negotiations, employee privacy, disability management, and return-to-work.
  • Lead and manage various HR projects, including process improvements, policy development, talent management initiatives, and special assignments.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives within established timelines and budget constraints.
  • Work with the Director, Human Resources on developing new HR projects.
  • Provide advice and represent the organization in complex and sensitive matters regarding labour relations, human rights, accommodation, workplace investigations, settlement negotiations, employee privacy, disability management, and return-to-work.
  • Administer compensation and benefits programs, ensuring competitive and equitable pay practices.

Recruitment & Employer Branding:

  • Develop and implement strategies to attract top talent, enhance the employer brand, and improve the overall recruitment process.
  • Support the selection of qualified candidates through fair and legal processes.
  • Conduct market research and recommend innovative approaches to talent acquisition.

Employee Engagement & Retention:

  • Design and execute employee engagement surveys, analyzing results to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Create initiatives to enhance employee satisfaction, well-being, and retention.

Training & Development:

  • Identify learning needs and design training programs to address skill gaps and foster employee growth.
  • Collaborate with training vendors and internal subject matter experts to deliver high-quality training sessions.
